Bryan Richard Shell

Bryan Richard Shell was born April 9, 1960 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the second of five children to Richard and Frances Jorgensen Shell. He passed from this life into the waiting arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, August 7, 2016. In a previous marriage he welcomed two sons, Brayden and Bryson. Bryan loved his boys dearly and spoke fondly and often of them. He was so proud of "his boys". In 2004 he was married to Shawna Wheeler, who was the love of his life. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 28, 2007. Bryan became a loving second father to Shawna's five children. He cared deeply for all of the children and made many sacrifices in their behalf. He was even known to leave his warm bed in the dead of the night to rescue a teenager with an empty gas tank or flat tire, or any other problem they might have. Bryan was a kind, gentle man with a wonderful quick wit. He was a welcome addition to Shawna's extended family, quickly becoming a favorite uncle. In this family of "vertically challenged" people he became our "gentle giant". He treated everyone with respect and he especially adored his wife Shawna. His favorite thing was to spoil her with little gifts and special dates, and she spoiled him right back. He was the love of her life! Theirs was a special relationship. He graduated from Boise Junior College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and an Associates of Science. He became an enthusiastic fan of the Boise State Broncos. On game days, if he wasn't at the stadium, he would be with his family in front of the TV, with his Broncos cap and tee shirt, cheering loudly along with the rest of us. He was convinced that the team could hear him. Bryan was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two year mission in Boston, Massachusetts where he became a fan of the Red Sox. He held many positions in the church including Young Men's presidency, counselor in the Bishopric, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and Gospel Principles teacher. He loved his Heavenly Father and lived his life with the goal to return to his presence with honor. Bryan will be missed by all who knew him. He was a caring friend and a shoulder to lean on. He was a big teddy bear--but he was also a rock, steady and unmoving in his values and beliefs, and loyal to friends and family. If you knew Bryan, you loved him. Bryan is survived by his wife Shawna of Kuna; sons Brayden Shell, Bryson Shell and Stetson Hatch; daughters Jamie (Lan) Truong of California, Codie Hatch of Coeur d'Alene, Shelby (Justin) Radford of Kuna, Kelly Hatch (Preston Wiseman) of Montana; mother and stepfather Frances and Errol Jorgenson; brothers Reed Shell and Ernie Shell; sisters: Lori Kelly Garner, Camilla Boylan, and Kelly Jacks; father and stepmother Richard and Linda Shell; five grandchildren, soon to be six; and numerous nieces and nephews.
