Miriam Becker

Miriam Becker, 56, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016, at her home in Nampa, Idaho, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Miriam was born April 8, 1960 in American Falls, Idaho, to Gustave and RoseMary (Neiwerth) Becker. She was the youngest of five daughters. She attended Hillcrest Elementary School and American Falls Junior and Senior High Schools. She and her family were active members of the United Church of Christ - Congregational in American Falls. Miriam worked as a librarian at American Falls Public Library for nearly 15 years. In 1989, she and her parents moved to Rupert, Idaho. There, she continued her work at DeMary Memorial Library. In 2005 she moved with her mother to Nampa to be closer to her sisters Karmen and Susan. During her life Miriam developed a deep love for learning. She was well read with special interest in history, geography, and astronomy. She read the complete Bible, Koran, and Book of Mormon. She enjoyed keeping up with current world events. Miriam loved being outdoors and visiting scenic places. She was very artistic and loved photography. She played piano, did needlepoint and cross-stitch. She enjoyed watching ice skating and gymnastics. In recent years she spent hours coloring beautiful pictures. She loved family history, her computer, and her Facebook friends. After the death of her father in 1993 she continued to be a wonderful companion to her mother, helping in every way she could. She had a heart of gold. Miriam taught her family much by her strength and example, never more than in the last five weeks of her life. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Miriam is survived by her four sisters: Lenora (Jon) Braithwaite of Clearfield, UT, LaDawn Becker of Phoenix, AZ, Karmen (Craig) Rowe of Nampa, ID, and Susan (Harry) Dennis of Waldport, OR; six nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A viewing and reception will be held in Nampa on Wednesday, November 30, from 1-2 p.m. at the LDS Church at 927 Ruth Lane. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 2, at Hansen Mortuary, 710 Sixth Street South in Rupert, with interment to follow at the Rupert cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to services at the mortuary, from 10-10:45 a.m. Arrangements are being provided by Zeyer Funeral Chapel in Nampa.
