Richard Dean Campbell

Richard "Rick" Dean Campbell, 59, of Boise, Idaho, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018, with his wife Jill by his side. Rick was born in Boise, Idaho on December 7, 1958, to Bruce and Carole Campbell. He was the fourth child of eight, having six brothers and one sister. His family moved to their farm in Meridian when he was a child, and he grew up helping with chores such as milking the cows, hauling hay, and moving sprinkler pipes. He graduated from Meridian High School and eventually continued on to receive an associate degree in business and accounting from Boise State University. Rick was married to Jill Ebert on October 16, 1982, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple; they would have celebrated their 36th anniversary next month. Rick and Jill were blessed with five children; Ashley, Amber, Benjamin, Bryn, and Bryce. Rick worked many different jobs throughout his life. He spent several years installing insulation, selling Filter Queen vacuums, and even running his own business, Balloons & Bears for U. In recent years, he made vinyl signs and gathered old fence wood for his brother to turn into picture frames. He loved photography, the outdoors, and traveling with Jill. They would often take weekend trips and travel around Idaho, and surrounding areas, just to take pictures. Rick was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a youth he participated in Boy Scouts where he received his Eagle Scout. He then went on to serve a two-year mission in the Colorado Denver Mission. He also spent many years teaching the children in primary and serving as the ward clerk and Executive Secretary. Rick was dealt many health problems throughout his life. As a child he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Complications from that eventually led to losing sight in one eye and kidney failure. He was given a second chance at life when he received a kidney and pancreas transplant on October 23, 1998, in Salt Lake City, Utah. In April 2018 he was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although the odds appeared to be in his favor and he put up a good, hard fight, the cancer became more than he could bear. Rick is survived by his wife Jill; daughters Ashley (and Ben) Hulse (Kuna, ID) and Amber (Boise, ID); sons: Benjamin (Caldwell, ID), Bryn (Boise, ID), and Bryce (Boise, ID); grandchildren Kaylin and Max; his father Bruce; sister Linda (and Don) Mertes; brothers: Tim (and Heidi), Dan (and Ann), Joel (and Jenn), and Eric (and Vic); sisters-in-law Margaret and Becky; in-laws William and Janet Ebert; sisters-in-law Cheryl (and Steve) Ball and Kimberly (and Curtis) Crosgrove; brothers-in-law: Brad (and Xochy) Ebert, David (and Stephanie) Ebert, Steven (and Lynne) Ebert, and Jeff Ebert. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his mother Carole; and brothers David and Steven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 14 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 12040 W. Amity Road in Boise, ID 83709. A viewing will be held at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13. Burial in Meridian Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300
