Dale Edward Anderson

On December 23, 2014 Dale went to be with his Lord. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Sheila of Nampa, ID, sons Devon (Stefanie) Anderson of Keiser, OR and Andrew (Linda) Anderson of Dickinson, ND, grandchildren Aidan & MaKenzie of Dickinson, ND, his parents Ed & Adele Anderson of Nampa, ID, sister Cheryl (Kent) Victor of Lynden, WA, brother David Anderson of Valley City, ND, nieces and great nieces and nephews. Dale was a very giving person. He was a regular platelet donor. He was in the Red Cross Center every other Sunday. He helped start an Annual Square Dance to benefit Ronald McDonald House. Part of the admission was a stuffed toy so the children at the house and their siblings could have a toy for Christmas. He was very much involved with his church doing community service as well. He helped with anything having to help those less fortunate. Whether it was food boxes, socks, blankets or coats, he got involved. He was one of the three founding members of the Trinity Community Gardens, Inc., a nonprofit in Nampa. The group which grows and gleans produce to help those in need. He was approached in November of 2007 to start this wonderful charity. There are two sites with raised beds and two sites which are open fields. Since the first beds went on in the spring of 2008, TCGI has given away 339,000 pounds of produce. Without Dale's drive and compassion and a lot of volunteers, this would not have happened. After a lot of convincing from everyone, Dale finally sat down with Elaine Jenkins, Paulette Blaseg and his wife Sheila to write a book on what he and the others had learned over the last several years. The book came out two days before Thanksgiving. The Lord has blessed Dale in so many ways. In the mid 90's he joined the Whatcom County Dahlia Society in Washington State. In 1998 he took a master gardener class in Whatcom County and in 2004 he took a class in Canyon County. Last month he was awarded the Master Gardener Emeritus. For 15 years Dale ran his own cabinet and furniture shop in Bellingham, WA. He was a talented woodworker. He loved to include exotic and domestic wood in his creations. He also believed in quality not quantity. Dale served in the US Army and was stationed in Bamburg, West Germany. As a youth, he was a Boy Scout and ran track and cross country which he passed on to both of his sons. Dale would go out towards the end of the race and encourage the boys to finish hard and do their best. Dale was born in Seattle, WA, moved to Bellingham in 1970. He met and married Sheila in March of 1979. If you would like to honor Dale, please make a donation either to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or to a local food bank.
