Curtis Marvin Hutchings born October 31, 1955 entered into rest October 12, 2015 after a 15 month bout with ALL Leukemia/Lymphoma. Curtis was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Marvin and Irene Hutchings. He was the oldest of four children. He grew up in Idaho Fall and Shelley, and spent the majority of his time in Lemhi County and many many days (and summers) in Gilmore, Idaho with is Grandpa Leo and Grandma Eunice Hutchings. In 1974, Curt went to Triangle X Dude Ranch in Jackson, WY where he worked the summer after graduating high school. He was a cowboy for most of his life. At the age of 19 he married Fondell Byington and worked on the DD Ranch. They later divorced. Around 1978, Curt moved to Salmon and worked for Joe Hoover, a prominent saddle maker. In 1979, he married Judy Heggon and from that union three daughters were born (Jessica, Jaylene and Katie). They later divorced. One of the most amazing things that Curt did in his lifetime was working on Lucky Peak Dam as a hydro-electric engineer. You can tell that he enjoyed that job by the stories he would tell. He once had his boots electrocuted off of him. In 1985 he married Debbie Savage and from that union two daughters and one son were born (Shelly,Nikki and Joshua Paul, their infant son who did not survive). They spent the next 10 years in and around the Emmett area where Curt continued his work at Lucky Peak, and then moved to Simplot in Caldwell. Later on he opened his own boot and saddle shop in Emmett. The love of his life, Dorothy Bacon, agreed to marry him in 1996. On June 29, 1996 they were married at the New Plymouth Ward LDS Chapel and then Sealed in the Boise LDS Temple on June 28, 1997. They have a wonderful son, Colton who was born in 2001. For the past 19 years, their travels took them all over. They were in New Plymouth, Grand Junction, CO, Arco, Rexburg, Monteview and then Caldwell/Marsing, ID. Curt loved to break and ride horses, it was one of his passions. He was an avid outdoors-man who loved to hunt all types of game, fish and hang out outdoors and reload his own ammunition. He loved to ranch: raising horses, sheep, bunnies, chickens and training dogs. His other passion was working leather which he learned from his grandfather Ira Davis and how to build saddles from Joe Hoover. Curt also loved his church and was attending the Marsing 1st Ward with Dorothy and Colton. Our beloved husband, father, and friend was the most gentle soul. He was the most kind and caring father. Curt loved all of his kids and did the very best he could. If you had the chance to talk with him, you would know this as he spoke of his children often and with such love. Everyone loved to sit and chat with him and listen to his stories. He was a friend to the end and he had many. His best friend was his wife, Dorothy. Their love affair was one for the books. They loved each other so much it showed in every way, every day. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hutchings of Caldwell/Marsing, ID; parents Marvin and Irene Hutchings of Marsing: siblings Carolyn Sande of Grand Junction, CO, Larene (Roger) Meng of Bakersfield, CA and Stephen (Lisa) Hutchings of Parma, ID; his children: Jessica Hutchings of Denver, CO, Jaylene (Robbie) Schmidt of Wheaton, MN, Katherine (Ross) Holzworth, of Fort Collins, CO, Rachelle Edwards (Will Woolley) of Challis, ID, Nicole (Brad) Black of Terreton, ID and Colton Hutchings of Caldwell/Marsing, ID.
