Mona Marie Pierce Frost, 62, Nampa, died at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at the Meridian, Idaho St. Luke's Hospital from complications related to previous surgeries. Mona was born July 26, 1955 in Roseburg, Oregon to John and Wyola Pierce, joining her older brother, Barney. In 1960, she lost her mother in a tragic auto accident and was taken in by her maternal grandparents, who passed away shortly thereafter. She moved with her aunt, Karel Sherwood, to Corvallis, OR and then to Michigan. There she was introduced to and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was the start of a life-long relationship with her Savior. In 1967 she moved to Simi Valley, California, where she lived with her aunt Karen and her Uncle Bob Heidel. It was in Simi Valley that she met her dear friend, Terri Gallagher, and they were close friends the remainder of Mona's life. In 1968, next door neighbors, Greg and Dianna Baker, invited Mona to live with them, and she thoroughly enjoyed living with this spontaneous, all-boy family, who influenced her life for good. After graduating from Simi Valley's Royal High School in 1973, she was accepted to, and attended, Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. While at Ricks College, she developed close relationships with her roommates and maintained these friendships throughout her life. In 1975, she met an Idaho cowboy, Bill Frost. On June 27, 1975 they were married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple for time and all eternity and moved to Boise, Idaho. In Boise, they bought a cozy home and shortly thereafter moved to a ranch on the banks of the Boise River, in Eagle, Idaho, where they raised mink and started a family that blessed them with three amazing children. In Eagle they became part of the original members of the Eagle LDS Ward and developed life-long friendships with many of the founding families. In 1992 her family moved to eastern Idaho, which became another opportunity for Mona to make more friends. In 1995 the family moved back to Eagle where Mona and Bill started their own company, with the help of a long-time friend, Larry Fischer. Mona also enjoyed her work at the Idaho Legislature, where she was the JFAC Executive Secretary for multiple legislative sessions. She cherished many church service callings, such as a Young Women's leader and a Boise Idaho LDS Temple worker. After three decades of feeding the wood stove and driving down a long dirt lane to the ranch house, Mona was thrilled when Bill purchased her a new home in a Nampa subdivision. She was happy she could enjoy the "finer" things of life by having a garage, a car that wasn't constantly covered in dust, automatic lawn sprinklers, central heat and A/C. She was especially happy to have neighbors she could visit with and see without driving to their homes or without the aid of binoculars.Mona was able to fulfill a life-long desire to travel. She went with her family to Canada, Mexico, Hawaii (many of the lower 48 states), Spain, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, Germany and Japan. On her own, she ventured to the homeland of her daughter-in-law's; Poland. When she rang the doorbell at one of their homes, the grandma thought she was a street beggar because she could not speak Polish, and told her to move along. Mona was able to use her iPad to translate her conversation and eventually she was let inside and they quickly became friends. Her final years involved significant physical pain due to complications from earlier surgeries. When she was well enough, she thought of others with every ounce of energy she could muster. Headstrong, stubborn, bossy, feisty, independent, gregarious, loving, empathetic, generous of spirit, loyal and tenacious are all words that describe Mona. She is survived by her husband, Bill Frost; her children: Mark Frost (Anita), Jonathan Frost (Marta), Fawn Beagley; grandchildren, Harmony, Cozy and Camry Beagley; Oliver, Emilia and Olivia Frost, Julie Frost; her brother, Barney Pierce (Gloria); nieces, Jennifer Pierce and Stephanie Pierce Mendel; aunt, Karel Simms; cousins, Karinda Hoover, Lance Heidel, Kindra Bradley; as well as innumerable people who were never strangers. She is preceded in death by parents, John and Wyola Pierce and her grandson, William Stanley Frost. There will be a viewing at the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd. Nampa, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 15th.Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 in the LDS Chapel at 607 W. Locust Lane, Nampa, ID. The family would like to thank the Meridian, Idaho St. Luke's Hospital ICU staff for their kind, tender, professional care of Mona during their time with her.Mona would want others to remember her by stepping outside of their comfort zone to make another person's life a bit brighter.
