On July 3, 2014, Wendy passed quietly from mortality to immortality. She was born March 13, 1954 in Niagara Falls, NY, the third of six children born to Robert and Norma Richardson. She grew up there and had a real love of the falls. It is an area rich in history and magnificent scenery. She always enjoyed going as a family to Letchworth State Park, Palmyra and the LDS pageant, and visiting her Grandma Jennie in Pennsylvania. On Friday the 13th of August 1976, she met John Winston on a river trip floating the Green River in Utah. They were married and sealed to each other, forever, 9 months later on Friday the 13th of May 1977, in the Provo Utah LDS Temple. Every Friday the 13th was like a mini anniversary to them and they always tried to do something different and fun on those Fridays. Wendy had many talents, passions and interests. Some of those were music, reading, gardening, cooking, being in or near water, and being outdoors. She especially enjoyed spending time with children, grandchildren, and friends. Music was always important to her. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and ability to play the piano, organ and guitar. She participated for many years with the Musettes and was awarded one of their first place scholarships for singing. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wendy enjoyed blessing the lives of others through her talents. Frequently she was called upon to serve as a teacher of youth, sharing with them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many years were spent as chorister, pianist and organist in church. Many lives were blessed as she shared her love of music through teaching, coaching, and accompanying children, youth and adults. She often played for baptisms, weddings, and funerals. The one thing that Wendy derived the most enjoyment from, was being Mom. She chose to sacrifice and forego many things in life to be a stay at home mom. Nothing was more important than teaching her children both spiritually and temporally, preparing them to face life with honesty and integrity. Countless hours were spent wiping tears, tending sickness, reading bed time stories, cooking meals, and just listening. Also, she volunteered in schools, on band trips, at dance competitions, and church activities. She always taught by example. She is survived by her husband John and her six children: Scott (MaryAnn), Lori Zechmann (Casey), Julie Napier (Ron), Katy, Tami Gentry (Tanner) and Jennie; and 12 (soon to be 13) grandchildren. She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Norma Richardson, three sisters, two brothers, many in-laws, and nephews and nieces. She will be greatly missed until we are reunited again.
