Stephen Keith Murray

Stephen Keith Murray, 65, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019. He was born December 6, 1953 in San Francisco, California, the son of Charles Keith Murray and Inez Elizabeth Ducote Murray. He graduated from Kerns High School in Kerns, Utah in 1971, and went on to serve a 2-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Belgium Brussels mission. Steve met Patricia Lynn Erick and they were married and had two twin boys, Chance Stephen Murray and Bryce Patrick Murray. After that marriage ended Steve later married Gina Lynne Armstrong on April 8, 2000 and lived in Nampa, Idaho. Gina had two sons from a previous marriage, Jeremy Lance Armstrong and Phillip Ashton Armstrong. Steve received a Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of Utah, a Master of Education from Utah State University, and a Master of Business Administration from Westminster College. He served in the military for 22 years. Steve was a medic and operating room tech for the National Guard serving at the 144th Evacuation Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was mobilized as a medic instructor in the 1st Gulf War under Operation Desert Storm under the 9th Battalion in the 104th Division with the Army Reserves. He retired as a Sergeant 1st class. As a civilian, Steve worked as a seminary teacher, a pharmaceutical sales rep, a hospital tech, and a quality control specialist for food manufacturers. Steve was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various church callings including: stake clerk, ward mission leader, and secretary of the elder's quorum. He loved serving others and worked to make the community better by volunteering as a blood drive coordinator for the Red Cross. Steve had a beautiful voice and sang for the Master Chorale and for the Church choir. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids and grandchildren, playing guitar, golfing, gardening, and cooking. Steve is survived by his wife, Gina Lynne Murray (Nampa, Idaho); children: Bryce Patrick Murray and Chance Stephen Murray (Provo, Utah); step children: Jeremy Lance Armstrong (Ashton, Idaho) and Phillip Ashton Armstrong (Nampa, Idaho); siblings: Mike, Charlene, Joy; 8 grandchildren. His parents and sister Patricia preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a contribution be made to the American Red Cross. The funeral will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, August 17, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 504 11th Ave N, Nampa, Idaho 83651, with Bishop Gibson officiating. Guests can visit and offer condolences to the family from 11:00 - 11:45 am. Burial services will be later in the week at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
