Roger Allen Helferich

Roger Allen "Skippy" Helferich, 68, of Nampa passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at his home. He was born May 16, 1953, in St Louis, Missouri, to Anna May and William Duane Helferich, the middle child of five siblings. He grew up in Hayward, California. Being the middle child, he worked hard to make himself known....he was very mischievous. Once he burned his sister Wilma's eyebrows off! He also electrocuted his brother. I am sure there is a great story behind these incidents! In 1973, Roger saw a cute girl while at the roller rink. He was determined to get to know her. He asked her for a dance, and she said no. He asked again and she said no. But he was not going to give up. He asked several more times but would not take no for a final answer! Finally, she said OK. Her name was Linda Heflin, and they were married two weeks later! They have been married for 48 years. Roger joined the Navy and served for three years on the USS John Paul Jones. He later became a machine operator at RC Bigelow Tea Company. "Skippy" as he was known as, loved music and when he heard music, especially the 50's era music, he just had to dance! He was a man that was loved by all who knew him. He would do anything to help someone in need. He was a very happy soul. Skippy leaves behind his wife Linda; his three children: Bridgett (Jeff) Stone, David Helferich and JoAnn Arredondo; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 6, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa. Please bring any great memories you have of Skippy to share as we celebrate his life.
