Brent Wenden Nye passed away on March 6 after living for a year and a half with the relentless, deteriorating effects of ALS. He left this world while at home in Boise, ID, surrounded by his wife and children. He was just 12 days shy of his 70th birthday.Brent was born on March 18, 1953, in Logan, Utah. He was the first born of Wenden Morgan Nye and Sharlene Rich. He grew up in Boise, ID with his three younger siblings, Kevin, Julie, and Michael. Growing up, he had fun spending time with siblings and friends in the foothills near his home. He attended Collister Elementary, Hillside Junior High, and Capital High School where he played the saxophone. Following high school, he spent a semester at Boise State College and a semester at Brigham Young University.Brent met the love of his life, Stephanie Holzgraf, in 1975. Two years later, on September 20, 1977, they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity. He had 4 children, Kimberly, Mandi, and twins, Rebecca and Benjamin.Throughout his life, Brent only worked for a few companies, staying loyal to each for many years. He worked as an accountant for Valley Steel Builders and was the payroll manager for the Meridian School District. During this time, he went back to Boise State University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Business. With this degree, he finished his career as the benefits manager for the Boise School District, where he retired in 2016.While he enjoyed work, his passions laid with his family, friends, and the outdoors. He supported his kids' activities, never missing a single band concert or sports game. In his spare time, he loved fishing for brown trout on the Owyhee River, hunting deer, elk, and quail, and trapping crawdads. He was an excellent gardener, the best BBQer, and kept amazing care of his backyard chickens. He enjoyed his hobbies of collecting coins and playing Hand and Foot with friends. He loved his kids and grandkids and always looked forward to his visits with them.Throughout his life, he found quiet ways to serve his family, church, and community. He regularly donated blood to the Red Cross, donating over 20 gallons! He spent countless hours fixing cars of family and friends. He brought donuts and pizza monthly to the police department to show his appreciation. Through many church callings, he also spent time serving his Father in Heaven. He enjoyed serving as an executive secretary under 5 different bishops. He was a man of faith and wanted to be at church, attending in-person up until his passing. His example of Christlike love and service will never be forgotten.He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, 4 children and their spouses, Kimberly and Matt Hudson, Mandi and Tyler Harris, Rebecca and Bryce Call, Benjamin Nye and fiancee Courtney Wrobel, 11 grandchildren, Hailey, Kylee, Tanner, Blake, Tyler, Ellyse, Chase, Bradley, Carson, Ashton, and Mason, his mother, Sharlene Nye, and siblings Kevin, Julie, and Michael. He was preceded in death by his father, Wenden Nye.The funeral will be held Saturday March 11, at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4921 N Mitchell St. in Boise. Following the funeral, a motorcade will lead to the graveside service held at Dry Creek Cemetery. Viewings will be held at the church Friday night from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am - 10:45 am.
