He was born on July 19th, 1952 in New Orleans, Louisiana as the oldest son of Loren Henry and Catherine Hyde. His father's job took him to California, Colorado, Idaho and Oregon. Michael was a hard worker growing up and made money working jobs such as delivering newspapers and working at a TV repair shop. His time spent at the TV repair shop is where his love for electronics was born. Michael converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was a senior in high school. Michael loved electronics and made a career out of it. His profession was really his hobby. He was an avid ham radio operator volunteering much of his time for local emergency communications. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and could often be found in his basement talking to "aliens" with them on his ham radio. Michael was always willing to serve those around him in whatever capacity was needed. He held many different positions in the church where he diligently served. His favorite was serving in the nursery where the kids referred to him as "Mr. Mike". Michael kept an amazingly positive attitude throughout his illness.
