Dwain "Ed" Byington

Dwain Edwin "Ed" Byington, 65, a longtime resident of Nampa, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2017 due to complications from heart surgery. Ed was born on March 29, 1952 in Soda Springs, Idaho to Dwain Elliot and Grace Pearl (Hall) Byington. They lived In Soda Springs for a short time before moving to the Nampa area. He attended and graduated from Nampa High School in 1970. He also attended and graduated from Ricks College and BYU. He served an LDS church mission in Berlin, Germany. On December 27, 1973 he married Karen Sue Murray and together they had two children, Becky and Dan. He was married to Laurie Hafen for a short time. He was then married to his current wife Megan Westover Waldal on February 9, 2008 and was sealed to her a year later in the Boise Idaho LDS Temple. His interests included: scouting, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, dutch oven cooking, ATV riding, supporting his children and grandchildren, and spending time with close friends and family. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions in his lifetime. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Diane. He is survived by his wife Megan; his brother Bill (Nancy) Byington of Elko Nevada; his sister Phyllis (Mike) Breshears of Nampa; children: Becky (Nick) Hunsaker of Smoot Wyoming, Daniel (Michelle) Byington of Scott AFB Illinois; and his 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Chris Waldal, Elizabeth (Jack) Stepan, Cory (Megan) Waldal, Meredith (Greg) Myers, Melanie (Nathan) Gibbens and his 15 grandchildren and a large number of extended family. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday July 31 at the LDS Chapel located at 18463 Northside Blvd in Nampa. A Viewing will be held at the church Sunday, July 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. and again from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services.
