Robert Dean Swensen 1951-2021 On Nov. 9, 2021, Robert passed away after a 6-month battle with cancer. He was born in Ashton, Idaho on November 29, 1951, to Ralph Swensen and Florence Gladys Ayers Swensen. Robert grew up in St. Anthony, Idaho surrounded by his family, parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, and lifelong friends. After graduating from South Fremont High School in 1970 he headed to The Church College of Hawaii where he made lifetime memories. During this time his family moved to Kuna, Idaho. Upon his return from Hawaii Robert went to Boise State University where he eventually earned degrees in communication and accounting. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Robert served as a missionary in the Kentucky Tennessee mission 1972-1974. It was here that he became acquainted with his sweetheart. Returning to Tennessee only weeks after the completion of his mission to make his intentions known. After a whirlwind romance, he married Thalia Sue Berry on December 14, 1974, in the Manti Utah Temple. Robert and Thalia moved from Tennessee to Boise, and it was here that their first daughter Emilie Rose was born in 1975. Shortly afterwards Callie Celeste joined their family in 1977. Roberts career choices then took the family to Pocatello and Twin Falls, and in 1978 Robert Abram was born. Finally settling in Boise in 1986 and much to their surprised delight Benjamin Rory completed their family in 1988. Robert had varied career pursuits through the years, however his heart and life was dedicated to God and his family. Raising his four children was his main goal and the greatest joy of his life. He taught them by example the importance of family, to love their savior, and to serve others. He supported them in all their dreams and endeavors, attending every one of their activities, games, and performances. He was their biggest fan and greatest cheerleader. His entire life was a family affair. Robert shared with his children his love for music. He washed dishes in a cafe all summer to buy his first guitar at age 14, the first of many. They played and sang often, and he has left them a legacy of music in their hearts and their homes. Due to growth and boundary changes Robert lived in the same house for nearly 30 years but was in several wards within the Idaho East Stake. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Shamrock Ward. He served The Church in many capacities throughout his lifetime as a teacher, as a leader, and as a missionary. Robert never knew a stranger, loving and serving everyone her ever met and counting them amongst his friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved niece Terah; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who were dear to him. He is survived by his wife, Thalia; daughter Emilie Rose Parrott and her husband Jeffery, and their children: Hannah Rose, Ella Grace, Macie Claire, and Carson Parrott of Deatsville Alabama; daughter Callie Celeste Booth and her husband Eric Booth, and their children: Ava Celeste, Gavin Raydell, Sophia Rose, and Madison Amya Crain of Boise; son R. Abram Swensen and his wife Laina Prince Swensen, and their children: Olivia Rose, Hyrum Abram, Heber Rowan, Hazel Hope, Malcolm Hodson and Liam Hodson of Boise; son Benjamin Rory Swensen and his wife Vanessa Park Swensen and their daughters Margaret Rose and Josephine Ru of Spokane Washington; brother Leslie Swensen, his wife Kathy, and their children of Nampa; sister Linda Young, her husband Tony, and their children of Nampa; and sister Marian Kenworthy and her husband Harvey of Kuna. Funeral services will be held 10am Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11918 W. Ustick Rd, Boise, Idaho 83713. A viewing will be held from 9-9:45 prior to the services. Zeyer Funeral Chapel is inviting those who cannot attend to a scheduled zoom meeting.
