William (Willie) David Dixon was born April 17, 1951 in Marshall, Texas to John Ida and Velma Merle (Holmes) Dixon. He was married to his sweetheart Teresa Ann (Butts) Dixon on April 12, 1976. They were later sealed along with their four sons in the Dallas Texas LDS Temple on April 12, 1994. Willie was a colorful character with a love for the road. He loved to drive. He would often be seen in places far from home just driving around to see the country side. He became a truck driver later on in life and was able to see more of the world this way. He was always friendly and seemed to know everyone. Some people couldn't understand him with his Texas accent, and many funny situations occurred when people misunderstand him. Willie loved to work on cars and was very good at it. He and his brother John Paul built their own Hot Rod car. Later in life when it was harder to get around, he would sit down in the shop while his son Lee was working on cars and hand him tools and give advice. He loved to hunt and fish, and went up scouting for deer this past fall. He was great at games and was an amazing pool player. He loved to have family barbeques and then sit around the fire laughing and telling stories. Willie joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in March of 1993, and held many callings. He lived in Texas until 1998 then moved to Inkom, Idaho. He would always say he was going to live in the mountains. He and Teresa moved to Kuna, Idaho in 2015. Teresa had to be gone often because of her job, so the responsibility to take care of him and his failing health was taken over by Emily Dixon, his daughter-in-law. She was the only one besides his son Lee that could get him to take his medications. The family will always be thankful for Emily and her selflessness in his time of need. Willie went home to his Father in Heaven on Saturday, April 9, 2016, after spending the last few hours of his life visiting with his family. What a blessing for his wife and family to be able to spend that time with him. He was preceded in death by his father John and his mother Velma and his younger brother John Paul Dixon. He is survived by his wife Teresa Dixon; his four sons: Dave (Heidi) Dixon, Lee (Amy) Dixon, Chris (Emily) Dixon and Tim (Toni) Dixon; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother; and multiple nieces and nephews. Willie's family would like to thank the wonderful team of nurses and staff on the 4th floor of St. Luke's in Meridian, with a special thank you to Dr. Jensen. We also appreciate Legacy Hospice and the team of nurses and social workers for the care they provided to Willie and his family.
