Patricia Venosdel Brown

Patricia V. Brown was born April 14, 1951 at Saint Luke's Hospital in Boise ID. She passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2018 after a long struggle with cancer. Patricia was the eldest daughter of Claude R, and Helen M Venosdel, originally of Ohio. She was the eldest of four surviving Venosdel children. Patricia attended kindergarten through high school in Boise and later college at the University of Idaho and Boise State University where she graduated in biology and chemistry. Shortly after graduation, she joined the City of Nampa Wastewater Treatment staff where she found her lifelong passion for Idaho water quality. Patricia started as the plant chemist, quickly rose through the ranks to superintendent, and became one of the first women in America to manage a major wastewater plant. From Nampa she joined the firm of Environmental Training Consultants, Inc., a water quality consulting company based in Oregon. From there she joined Brown and Caldwell, a major environmental and engineering science firm, as a Senior Scientist. Ultimately she formed her own environmental consulting firm, Brown Environmental, in 1998 where she served as company president. Along her professional career she earned numerous prestigious awards including the Arthur Sidney Bedell Award for water pollution control. Patricia was married in 1973 to Jimmie Brown also of Boise. They had a son Sergio who married Rebekah Bankhead and produced three beautiful grandchildren: Jax, Talyn and Walker. Patricia and Jimmie have lived in a home they built outside of Nampa since 1981, where they raised their family. Patricia had two great loves in life, her family and her work to keep Idaho waters clean and pristine. She also was an accomplished musician and lover of music. Patricia liked all kinds of music but had a special affinity for the Rolling Stones who much to her delight performed in Nampa at the Idaho Center. She was sure it was a special performance just for her. Her father Claude Venosdel and her older brother Tommy preceded Patricia in death. She was much loved by friends and family and will be sorely missed. She is survived by husband Jimmie; son Sergio; mother Helen; brothers Bill and Kent; sister Wendy; and grandchildren: Jax, Talyn and Walker. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa. Condolences may be expressed at zeyerfuneralchapel.com.
