Kent Eugene Barrett, age 68, passed away January 15, 2018, in his home in Nampa, Idaho, surrounded by family and friends. Kent was born July 7, 1949, in Boise Idaho, to Thomas & Betty Barrett. He was raised in San Bernardino, CA. He later moved his family to Idaho. Kent was a highly skilled fiberglass man, making Jacuzzi tubs, vaults, boat repairs and even had a hand in first "boaterhome", built in Boise. He later changed his career to truck driving and worked many years for Rick Shanley Trucking out of Caldwell. After retiring, he spent time with family and enjoyed playing pool. Kent was a great family man and a caring father and grandfather, who passed on his humor and love to each of his children. He married Dixie Helzer Ellis in December of 1986, and the couple raised 6 children together, in Nampa, including Seth Barrett who was the best of them all. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at a later date. All are welcome to attend. The family would like to thank all the kind friends and family members who brought food and other necessities while he was at home on hospice. The amazing staff at St. Luke's Downtown, and also the kind, gentle and thorough hospice nurses from All Care, Lance and Elizabeth. Last but certainly not least, our very own rock star nurse, Emily Vlcek for your professional expertise and love. Kent is survived by his 6 children: Holly (Tim) McCabe, Brandon Barrett, Clinton Ellis, Emily (Trevor) Vlcek, Hanna Barrett (Shaun Kinzer), and Clayton (Sally) Barrett; his ex-wife and close friend Dixie Barrett; and their many grandchildren; his sister Linda; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers: Tom Barrett, Ray Barrett, and Rob Barrett.
