Dolores Diane Bond, 72, was called home by her Savior, Our Lord, on July 30, 2021. Dolores was born in Los Angeles, California on June 2, 1949, to Joan and Melvin Schoonmaker. They moved to Lewiston, Idaho shortly after, where Dolores spent her childhood and school years. She was active in Wa-Tan-Ye girls' organization and played a fierce game of badminton. She attended college briefly but in 1969 she moved to Los Angeles where she had relatives and friends. It was there that she met her husband to be, Donald, while he was serving with the U.S. Navy. After his enlistment was fulfilled, they moved to his home state of Iowa where they were married in November of 1971.They raised seven children, a task that kept them busy, but they still managed to take extended vacations and 100s of camping trips. Dolores loved to camp and fish, and thoroughly enjoyed all of her outdoor time. She loved gardening along with sewing and decorating cakes. Dolores also worked in the food service industry in the capacity of shift manager primarily in the pizza industry.After residing in western Iowa for 20 years, the family relocated to Meridian, Idaho for better opportunities. Dolores continued in the food service industry in the same capacity.Dolores was always exploring her faith and love of Jesus. She was an avid supporter of Jewish Voice Ministries International and an active follower of Messianic Judaism. Through the years she also participated heavily in long term prayer groups. Dolores was a devoted true believer in our Lord, Jesus.In her later years, Dolores was afflicted with diabetes but always remained a positive person, offering up her afflictions to God, knowing He would take care of her. Her devoted son Jeremy spent the last 8 years as her caretaker, putting his own life "on hold" and making sure she had the proper medical care.Dolores always desired more time with her children and grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed their visits.Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Danny; and a grandson Easton. She is survived by Donald; her sons and daughters: Jonathan, Jennifer, Jeanette, Jeffrey, Joseph, Joshua and Jeremy; her brother Larry and sister Christine.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 5, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa with a viewing from 1:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the services. Burial will be in the Marsing/Homedale Cemetery.
