Dennis William Beckman, 65, of Caldwell, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 at his home due to natural causes. He was born February 15, 1949 in Hettinger, North Dakota to William Alfred and Renata Ilsa Borman Beckman. He had five siblings: Bob, Betty, Sherron, Linda and Ida. In January of 1968 Dennis joined the Navy. While serving he received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Dennis began working for Simplot in 1974 and worked there until he retired in March of this year. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, especially Mustangs. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent the last eight years as a teacher in the Primary. He also spent time as a Boy Scout leader. On June 28, 2013 Dennis married Marla Pasma. It was said that Beloved, Caring, Fun, Young at Heart, Warm, Generous and Kind were words that describe Dennis. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his son Kevin Salzman; sister Betty Russeto and nephew Rick Wyman. He is survived by his wife Marla, daughters Nikki Starr and Kristina Beckman, his stepchildren: Russell (Kimmie) Freeman, April (Pat) Pena, Cindie Haines, Tim(Heather) Haines, grandchildren: Michael Salzman, Tegon Starr, Nolan Starr, Jaxon Freeman, Huxley Freeman, Jade Haines, Isacc Pena, Mya Pena, Lily Haines, Elijah Haines and Hannah Haines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 at the Caldwell 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 4509 S. Montana Ave., Caldwell. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday, Nov 24 from 6-8p.m. and also on Tuesday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery.
