Joseph S. Schwab, 67, passed away on March 9, 2015 at his home in Nampa, Idaho. He was born on August 17, 1948 in Hamilton, Ohio to Joseph H. and Ruth Mae Schwab. Joe grew up in Fremont, California. He graduated from Washington High School in Fremont in 1966. After high school he enlisted in the Army. Joe served his country at Camp Casey on the DMZ in Korea in D Company 707th Maintenance Battalion 8th Army. He achieved SP4 rank and received a Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. Joe worked for Pacific Bell as a Splicing tech in Marysville, California for 24 years. Joe married Susan Mar in 1978 in Reno, Nevada. To their union were born Kimberly (Kim) and Charles J. (CJ) Schwab. Joe and Susan were later divorced. Joe moved to Nampa and became active in the Christian Church where he currently served as an Elder and as the head of the Mission/Outreach Committee. He was always happy to cook and make coffee for others and did so at both the First Christian Church and the Golden Glow Towers. As a young man Joe loved cars and motorcycles. Among his favorite cars were his GTO and his Candy Apple Gold "57" Chevy. He loved the drag races in California. Joe rode dirt bikes and street bike motorcycles in both Idaho and California. Joe is survived by his two sisters Joyce Peck and Brenda Lynch; his two children Kim Nelson and C.J. Schwab as well as his granddaughter Eva Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Ruth Schwab. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 27 at the First Christian Church, 619 12th Ave. South in Nampa.
