Barbara Leona Coons

Barbara Leona Coons 67, Nampa, ID (formerly of Homedale) "Little by little as we grieve for lost loved ones, we begin to remember not just that they died, but that they lived!" Barbara was born April 19, 1948, to Charles & Shirley Webster in Fort Bragg California. She was the oldest of her and her brother, Charlie. Her parents later divorced and each re-married. Barbara was blessed with both a loving Step-Mother and Step- Father, as well as 3 younger sisters; Elizabeth, Wendy & Joy. Barbara went to School in Fort Bragg, CA & Ukiah, CA. After High School Barbara went to Beauty College, soon after Graduating from Beauty College, Barbara met Daniel Coons and they were married in August of 1968. They lived in California and in 1969 had a son, Clint. They moved to Idaho, where they had their daughter, Brenda in 1971. Barbara & Dan moved to Homedale in 1978 where they resided until they divorced in 1993. Barbara moved to Nampa and where she continued working at the Idaho State School and Hospital. She loved her clients there and many of them touched her life. Barbara was always cutting someone's hair and kept her California Beautician's license current through the years. She followed her heart to be a beautician, went to school, received her Idaho License and eventually had her own Salon, in Nampa, Barbara's Beauty Salon. She had a great group of customers that she lovingly referred to as her 'Ladies'. She retired because of her health in March of 2015. Barbara's heart was overfilled with the unconditional love of her children Clint & Brenda. She was always supportive of their 'adventures' in life, and never hesitated to tell people how proud of them that she was. Her Love of family was increased as she was promoted to "GRANDMA". Barb loved her grandchildren dearly and loved watching her grandchildren Amanda, Taylor, Megan & Owen as they were growing up and enjoyed the time with them to the fullest. She sat through and concerts, volleyball, softball, baseball & football games, as well as wrestling matches and rodeos. She was their biggest fan. She was given the fitting and loving title as 'The Warden' by her grandkids... it suited her well. Barbara was blessed with the newest grandson, Stanlee a few months before she passed away. She was very proud of all of her grandchildren, she loved to show off pictures of them, and tell her friends what they were all doing. During her life in Nampa, Barbara was very active with the Lion's Club and received multiple awards during her years of service. She chose to retire as her health declined. She was very proud of her service and enjoyed being part of such a great group. Barbara also loved to read, crochet, playing pool and spent many years volunteering at the Idaho Center as an usher at concerts and events. She was always willing to help someone in need, would give anything she could spare and had a wonderful and original laugh. Barbara was a very strong lady that fought a very long and courageous battle with cancer. We would never say that she gave up, she was too stubborn for that. Near the end of her battle, she was tired and accepted that she was needed elsewhere to watch over her family and loved ones in a more productive way. Barbara left this world with her dignity and the knowledge that she fought a hard battle. During that battle, she showed everyone around her how to appreciate what you have in life and make the best of it. She constantly told her children and grandchildren how proud of them she was and how much she loved them. Barbara left us knowing she had friends and family waiting for her, she knew that she would be missed but would not be in pain any longer and she would see us all again. Barbara passed away peacefully, with family and loved ones by her side on April 16th 2016. Barbara will forever be remembered by her son, Clint (grandson Stanlee), her daughter, Brenda (granddaughters Amanda (Lee), Taylor, Megan, grandson Owen, & bonus grandson Kaelleb), her step-mother Barbara Webster, brother Charlie Webster, sisters Elizabeth Williamson, Wendy Webster, Joy Schlect, nieces & nephews as well as many friends, and other extended family members. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Charles Webster, mother Shirley Strong, mother and father In-Law Owen & Ruby Coons. There will be a Celebration of Life for Barbara at the Homedale Senior Center on Saturday May 14th at 11:00 am. There will be a potluck lunch and gathering of friends & family to follow.
