Russell Dean Schroeder passed away on March 26, 2018 at home. Russ was born on February 13, 1948 to Audrey and Gordon Schroeder. Russ grew up on the family farm in Clover Idaho. Russ Attended Clover Lutheran Elementary School, grade 1-8, Filer High School, 9-12; College of Southern Idaho 1969-1971; College of Idaho receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.Russ joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 as he had received a letter from the Government inviting him into the military. There was a draft at the time and Russ had a small number. He attended boot camp in San Diego. He completed Electronics Tech School in Memphis Tenn. His secondary assignment was with Avionics Anti-Submarine Warfare with the P3 Orion Aircraft in San Diego. While serving he auditioned and was accepted into the Navy Blue Jackets Choir.Russ retired after 33 years as a state employee working for Adult Probation and Parole, Youth Rehabilitation and ended his career as a Child Protection Social Worker and Supervisor. He found the good in families during the worst moments of their lives. Russ was passionate about the families he worked with.Russ had a sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke. He could give as good as he received.Russ enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He liked white water rafting with Bert and Sue Osborn; fishing and week end card games with Louise and Wendell Everton; and Night Frisbee with Valerie Ellis and her sons. He is survived by his wife Susan; his daughter Tracy and son Brock (Becky); three grandchildren: Tyson, Tayla and Brady. Russ is survived by his brother Douglas (Danielle); Glenn (Judy); and Mark (Peggy). He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David. Services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, March 30 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa with a viewing and visiting time to follow from 6 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Clover Cemetery, E 3550 N. 1823 E. in Buhl, Idaho (next to the Clover Trinity Lutheran Church) at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31.
