Linda Louise Jensen Malquist

Linda Louise Jensen Malquist, 74, of Meridian, Idaho transitioned to the next life July 27, 2022, at her home in Meridian, Idaho following a year long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born January 10, 1948, in Meridian, Idaho to Jay Keith Jensen and Verla Law Jensen of Meridian, Idaho. She was the youngest of four children and grew up working on the farm feeding calves, milking cows and hauling hay. If a young man was not putting forth what she thought was enough effort, she would speed up and work him all the harder. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She participated in the all-North West choir. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1966 and started her studies at Ricks college where she majored in music. Following graduation from Ricks, she transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU) where she excelled in her music studies. She soloed in many Oratorio Choir productions and received the award for outstanding solo performance for her Junior Recital. She graduated from BYU in 1971. In 1970 she married the love of her life, Frank Malquist for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-ay Saints. Following graduation, they moved to Altamont, Utah where their first child, Heather was born. Heather had many challenges in this life and Linda became the best nurse mother she could, nursing her through an average of one major surgery per year for eleven years. Heather has continued to be a challenge and a joy to all. Vaughn was born three years later and helped her raise Heather, including helping Heather learn to walk. In 1979, Frank was transferred to Buffalo, Wyoming where Bart was born two week later. Kurt was born the next year and Celisa was born the following year. In 1981 they moved back to Utah. Two years later the family moved to Bakersfield, California. Through all of these changes one of the constants in her life was music. She loved to sing and lead choirs. Many wards were blessed by her talents. She also loved her children and taught them a love of music. She loved beauty, including decorating her home and landscaping her yard. Many people commented on how beautiful her yards were including her current yard in Meridian. She was also an excellent homemaker and worked hard to bottle garden produce and what could be purchased locally. Her shelves were always stocked with row after row of bottled green beans, peaches, pears, apricots and apple sauce. When Frank retired, they moved back to Idaho where it all started. She is survived by: her husband Frank, daughter Heather of Meridian, son Bart (Katie) of Centerton, AR; and daughter Celisa (Erik) of Elko, NV; grandchildren: Erikson, David, Kaleb, Yulia, Elsa, Emmy, Edie and Katya; brother Leon (Jackie) and sister Denice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay Keith and Verla; Sister Gayla (Ron) Norton; sons Vaughn and Kurt. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 2 at the Kuna East Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8625 S Linder Road, Kuna, ID 83634, with a viewing from 9:00 to 10:15 prior to the services.
