Terry Glen Haile

Terry Glen Haile, age 66, passed away at his home in Parma, Idaho, on Friday, August 22, 2014 after "playing a game of hide-n-seek with Pancreatic Cancer." Terry was born on November 29, 1947, in Nyssa, Oregon, the son of Vear Perry and Nadine Gooing Haile. Terry was raised in Apple Valley (a small rural community between Parma, Idaho and Nyssa, Oregon). In 1962, his family moved to Nyssa, where he attended and graduated from Nyssa High School. In 1966, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Eastern Canada. When he returned, he married his high-school sweetheart, JoAnn Durfee, on December 27, 1968, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together, they moved to Salt Lake City where Terry worked and went to Utah Technical College. They then moved back to Apple Valley to the house where he was raised. They started their family in 1970 and had seven children in 10 years: Jed Haile, Suzy Shepherd, Stan Haile, Lori Atkinson, Jeremy Haile, Krystal Brown, and Carolyn Hansen. Terry and JoAnn started an earth moving business in 1970 and worked very hard to make it successful. They retired in 2008. During retirement, he spent a lot of time on his life-time hobby and interest -- hot rods and vintage tractors. He was very talented and was skilled at many things including fabricating and painting. He had more knowledge and know-how than should be fairly embodied in any one person, and was able to and enjoyed fixing just about anything. He also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, at his mountain properties, and spending time with his family. He loved his community and his fellow members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Terry was loved by many because of his infectious personality and fun sense of humor. He loved to help and serve others and has influenced his family and friends in great ways. He was well known for his generosity and constant drive to entertain. Terry taught us to work hard, enjoy life, and show kindness to others. Terry said the final weeks of his life were the richest and sweetest. He enjoyed being constantly surrounded by family and close friends who loved and supported him. He often said he would be plum happy if he spent eternity living his life as it was with his family. We are very thankful for the time we had with him and the influence he had in our lives. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community, but his legacy and influence will continue on. Terry had a firm testimony in his Savior Jesus Christ. We all loved him immensely and find joy in knowing that he has returned to live with his Heavenly Father. He is survived by his wife; his seven children & their spouses, and 18 grandchildren. Terry was preceded in death by his father Vear Haile, his mother Nadine Haile, his brother Robert Haile, and his father-in-law Irvin Durfee. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 28 at the Nyssa LDS Stake Center, 1309 Park Ave in Nyssay, Oregon. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 27 at the Parma First Ward LDS Chapel, 307 Andrews Ave in Parma, Idaho and at the Stake Center from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday prior to the services.
