Scott Darwin Hunsaker

Scott Darwin Hunsaker, 68, of Caldwell passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Cherry Ridge Care Center in Emmett, ID. He was born on March 29, 1946, the son of Darwin and Beth Hunsaker in Ogden, UT. He married Linda Splattstoesser on August 20, 1968 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. From this union four children were born: Amy, Erin and Breanne and son Ian. Scott graduated from Kennewick High School, Kennewick, WA and graduated with degrees from Columbia Basin College in Pasco, WA. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Southern Australia. He was drafted in the Army and served in Viet Nam. Scott loved hunting and fishing. He served as Scout Master for a number of years and enjoyed teaching the youth to appreciate nature and respect our natural resources. He lived the Scout Motto--"Be Prepared" and instilled that in his children and those around him. Scott is survived by his daughters: Amy Hunsaker of Wells, NV, Erin Hunsaker of Caldwell, ID and Breanne Hunsaker of Caldwell, ID and son Ian (Laurie) Hunsaker of Kennewick, WA; grandchildren: Donavan (Esther) Hunsaker, Nikelle Hunsaker and Gavin Hunsaker; sisters Linda Hunsaker and Sherylee Hankinson; step-brothers Russell (Dedie) May and Richard (Melinda) May; step-sisters Sharon (Geno) Ludwig and Shirley (Dave) McLendon. He was preceded in death by his father Darwin A. Hunsaker, his mother Beth G. Hunsaker and step-mother Edith May Hunsaker. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Caldwell LDS Stake Center, 3015 S. Kimball in Caldwell. A viewing will be held at the church from 12:00-12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery the following day. Arrangements are being provided by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. (467-7300). The family would like to thank the Cherry Ridge Care Center staff for their care and concern for our loved one.
