Dorothy Mae Stewart Rathbun, 73, of Caldwell passed away August 9, 2017 in Boise. She was born on May 25, 1944 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She is the youngest of 10 children born to Walter and Edith Stewart. At a young age Doro!thy moved to California with her family as Walter followed a variety of jobs. She spent much of her life in California where she received her education. Dorothy was very athletic and played many sports through high school. As a senior Dorothy moved to Ketchikan, AK, to help her sister, Gerry, take care of her children. Dorothy graduated from Ketchikan High School in 1962. It was during her senior year at Kayhi that she met the love of her life, R. Otis Rath!bun. They were married November 10, 1962 in Castlerock, WA. They resided in Ketchikan for the next 48 years. Dorothy raised her four children and had many part time jobs to help the family make ends meet. She worked as a checker in several grocery stores and was a school bus driver for many years. Dorothy loved to cro!chet, paint, read and halibut fish. Dorothy and Otis retired and moved to Caldwell, ID. The couple loved to travel. Caldwell was a great hub for their many road trip adventures and was near their daughter Cindy. One of their favorite trips was a cruise through the Panama Canal. Following their retirement, Otis and Dorothy returned to Ketchikan each summer to work at Clover Pass Re!sort as shuttle drivers for out of town visitors who were coming to Alaska on fishing trips. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Otis Rathbun of Caldwell, ID; daughters, Brenda Rathbun and Cindy (Joe) Grover both of Caldwell, ID; sons Wes (Penni) Rathbun of Seaside, OR and Allen (Carrie) Rathbun of Chandler, AZ; sis!ters Gerry Zerbuts of Caldwell, ID and Carolyn(Don) Fletcher of St. David, AZ. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sisters: Lola, Juanita, Lorraine, Loretta; and brothers: Gene, Jack, and Jim.
