Lana Sue Danner

Beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; Lana Sue Danner passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Portland, OR surrounded by her family. Lana freely gave of herself and will truly be missed. She had a positive and electric personality and was beloved by many. Lana left an impression on all she met. Although she was a mother of four, she loved the youth and saw herself as a second mom to many of her children's friends. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones and always looked for opportunities to help make a difference in peoples lives. Lana was born in Muncie, IN on February 4, 1944 to Robert & Evelyn Woods. She grew up in Tipton, IN and graduated from Tipton High School. She attended secretarial school in Indianapolis, IN and worked as a secretary for several years in Indianapolis and Tipton before finding her true passion teaching ballroom dancing. She taught dance for seven years at Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Indianapolis, IN; Baltimore, MD; and Honolulu, HI. She left ballroom dancing to marry Ed, her sweetheart of 10 years, and support him and his Air Force career. After marriage, Lana lived in Minot, ND; Merced, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; and finally, Nampa, ID where she lived for the past 30 years. She only recently moved to Saint Helens, OR to be near one of her daughters. Lana loved to serve others. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband in 1977 and served faithfully in many different capacities within the church, including 10 years as a temple worker in the Boise LDS Temple. She loved her family and enjoyed traveling to see them. She relished late nights playing board games and cards, watching movies, and attending sporting events for her kids and grandkids. She was a huge fan of Boise State football and was a season ticket holder for the past 15 years. Lana battled several different ailments during the last 18 years of her life including breast cancer, pneumonia, diabetes, and heart disease. However, she never complained and always fought her infirmities with a smile. Humor was a big part of Lana's life. Even up to her final hours she had her family laughing with her quick wit and positive outlook. Lana leaves behind a loving husband of 47 years, Ed Danner, who adored her along with an older brother, Robert (Nancy) Woods of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by her four children: Shea (Heather) Danner of Cypress, TX; Tim (Jean) Danner of Farmington, UT; Katie (Dan) Kidd of Saint Helens, OR; and Anne (Jared) Gray of Orofino, ID. She had 15 grandchildren who were her pride and joy and she loved each one of them deeply. She enjoyed every minute she spent with her grandchildren and always looked for opportunities to support and connect with each of them. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 112 Randolph Drive in Melba, ID with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300 Condolences may be expressed at ZeyerFuneralChapel.com With Lana's family no longer living in the Nampa area, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the LDS Humanitarian Fund at LDS.org or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrf.org.
