Jerry Larell Jones

Jerry Larell Jones was born on December 4, 1943 in Los Angeles, California, to Maria (Griffiths) and Larell Jones, and passed from this life on October 4, 2018, due to health complications. He was raised in Malad, Idaho and loved playing baseball and football. He graduated from Utah State University with a degree in accounting and went to work for Arthur Anderson & Company, an international CPA firm, in their Washington D.C. office. He was drafted for two years of service in the United States Army during Vietman. In 1972, he moved his family to Nampa, Idaho to work for the CPA firm of Severn Ripley. Later he went to work for Union Seed Company, which became Forage Genetics International, from where he retired after 35 years. Jerry has been married to Carolyn Waldron Jones for 50 years and they have four children: Greg (DaNel) of Boise, Idaho, Connie (Keven Coyle) stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, Kyle (Melissa) of Boise, Idaho and Lindsay (Matthew Muse) of Prosper, Texas. Additionally they have 10 grandchildren: McKay (McKenna), Nathan, Blake and Kayli Jones; Alison, Trevor and Megan Coyle; Avery Jones; and Camden and Grayson Muse. He has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving a mission in Switzerland as a young man and later in Tacoma, Washington with his wife. He was always a missionary as he lived his religion and treated others with kindness. Jerry was an active member of the community as a member and past president of Nampa Rotary Club, served with the Nampa Education Foundation, and sat on Nampa's Ministerial Board. Jerry also enjoyed boating, snow skiing, golfing and traveling. He always enjoyed long drives and especially spending time with family. He was brilliant with numbers, but his greatest qualities were his humility, integrity and his desire to serve others. He survived by his wife and children and grandchildren; three brothers: Gail of Orem, Utah, Tom (Jan) of Taylorsville, Utah and Brent (Sheree) of Orem, Utah; and one sister-in-law, Connie Nyman of Cedar City, Utah. We want to thank those care-givers and friends who have provided so much love and support during this challenging time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 927 Ruth Lane in Nampa. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa and at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
