Mary Ann Stewart Hunter, "My chains are gone. I've been set free. My God and Savior has rescued me."Mary Ann Stewart Hunter, 74, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017. She was born in Caldwell, Idaho in 1943 to Laurence L. and C. Juanita Stewart. With the exception of 10 years, five in Arizona and five in Montana, she lived her lifetime in the Nampa area. "She loved this old city" as she would put it. It was very disappointing to her when the downtown started to change. Knowing that while change for the future is important it is also important to be a guardian of the past history, keeping it for those ahead of us. She was a long time member of the Canyon County Historical Society and encouraged just about anyone who would listen to join in keeping the history of Nampa alive. One of the very fun times for her was gathering her sisters and daughters in the spring of each year and going to the CCHS Tea.Mary Ann married Ray Hunter in 1976 and together they began creating one family with their eight children. Family was very important to her and she wanted nothing more than for her husband and all of her children to love God, and to be happy with who they are and with each other. Realizing at a young age that her vocation in this life was to be a wife and mother fulfilling that mission was her heart's desire. All the while knowing that she was only passing through this world. Making a home for her husband and children gave her a sense of fulfillment. She loved all the canning, cooking and cleaning that went with the 16 hour days she for years put in on a daily basis, knowing that if you are going to be successful at the task at hand it would require an investment of time.Mary Ann is survived by her two sons Robert (Donette) of Ogden, Utah and Lary (Lisa) of Nampa; three daughters: Barbara (Evan), Heather, Tessa (Colin); one step-daughter Charlotte; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers: Linden (Carolyn) of California, Al (Pat) of Boise, Ken of Texas; one sister Lucile of Boise. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray; one daughter Cheryl; one son-in-law Marcelo; her parents; two sisters and two brothers.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at College Church of the Nazarene, 504 E. Dewey Ave in Nampa with a burial to follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 208-467-7300.
