Larry Charles Bingham passed away July 26, 2020 in Boise, Idaho after years of declining health. Larry was born on March 5, 1943 in Burley, Idaho to Charles Willard Bingham of Weber Co. Utah and Jessie Fern Hepworth from Elba, Idaho. He was the eldest child of three children born to Charles and "Fern" Bingham. Charles and Fern were living in Burley, Idaho in a home on their father's place when Larry came to this earth. Soon they bought a farm and moved to Buhl, Idaho when Larry was a couple of years old. He started school in a one room schoolhouse and by the time he was in the 3rd grade the school district consolidated all the one room schoolhouses and moved everyone into the Elementary School in Filer. Larry's youth was spent working on the family farm milking cows, doing tractor work and hunting with his father. His spare time was spent "raising hell" .... let's just say he and his friends should have gotten in a lot of trouble. He loved modifying cars and drag racing on the country roads north of their home. Larry attended high school at Filer High School and following graduation, the next Monday, left home and went to Washington for a job at Green Giant. The next few years were spent in Eastern Idaho doing various jobs in trucking, house hauling, and where he also managed a service station. In his late 20's, he was introduced to Julia Ann Peterson of Kimberly, Idaho and they were married June 2, 1972 in Buhl, Idaho. They established their home in Filer, ID and he went to work doing short haul trucking jobs around the Magic Valley. He rode in the Gooding and then Twin Falls Sheriff's Posses. On Father's Day in 1980 Larry and Julia welcomed the birth of their one and only child, Tammy. At this time Larry was farming for himself and a few others. After Julia went back to work when Tammy was two years old, he took her along with him wherever he went. It was in these precious years that he and Tammy established their enduring bond. Tammy has many memories of riding along in the tractor, sleeping in the pickup at the bottom of the field, searching the pickup bed toolbox for his candy stash, singing along to country/western music, getting lunch at the bowling alley and the highlight was always going to farm and livestock sales. Following the farming crisis in 1985 they were forced to sellout of farming. Larry was an incredibly hard worker which meant long hours taking care of various duties. Even through the struggles to balance work and family he was always a supportive husband, father, brother and son. Larry was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Thanks to the encouragement of wonderful home teachers and years of prayers from his wife and daughter he prepared to go to the temple and in March of 1995 their little family was sealed for time and all eternity in the Boise Idaho Temple. Larry soon after served as a Bishop of the Hollister Idaho Ward and served on the High Council of the Filer Idaho Stake. Prior to retirement Larry hauled houses around the western US and did other local trucking jobs. In 2005 he retired from his life of being a "jack of all trades and a master of none." He then spent the years tinkering, modifying, woodworking and learning leather work. During the summers of 2008 & 2009 Larry and Julia served a mission for the Church as caretakers of the Camp Smokey at Alturas Lake in Idaho. Becoming a Grandpa was a highlight of his life and he enjoyed seeing his five grandsons involved in their activities. He was never shy of jabbing them with his cane or telling them stories from his youth, although, Grandma made sure to sensor the stories. In 2017 they left the Magic Valley that had always been their home and moved to Nampa, ID to be closer to their daughter Tammy and her family. He endured many health challenges, but we are so grateful he was blessed with added years to enjoy his family. Larry and Julia were married for 48 years and built a beautiful life learning and growing together. He is survived by his wife Julia; daughter Tammy (Steven) Carlton and grandsons: Hayden, Bryson, Cameron, Mason and Aaron Carlton; sister Charla (Ken) Eldredge; and brother Randy Bingham. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Fern Bingham.
