Danny Joe Sanford

Born February 21, 1943 in Gorman, Texas, Danny Sanford was raised in Comanche, Texas, where he graduated from high school before entering Tarleton State University in Stephenville. Danny met the love of his life, Sheryl Neeley, a few years later. They were married on April 30, 1965 in Logan, Utah, in the Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. United in life and love for all eternity they created a beautiful family that continues to grow even today and continues to be their greatest accomplishment together. Danny is survived by his wife Sheryl Sanford of Kuna Idaho, children Devin (Soundra) Sanford of Temple, Texas; Jennifer (Tracie) Sanford of Rocklin, California; Scott (Leora) Sanford of St. Marie's Idaho; Michael (Mandy) Sanford of Austin, Texas; Brian (Suzi) Sanford of Boise, Idaho; Steven (Janel) Sanford of Boise, Idaho; and his Nephew Roger Abernathy of Conroe, Texas. He was also the proud, adoring Grandpa of his 16 grandchildren, and companion to Sophie, his cat. Danny worked as a Purchasing Director for West Texas Hospital and Taylor Telephone Co-Op in Winnie, Texas. In later years, Danny and Sheryl settled in Idaho to be closer to Sheryl's family. Danny's hobbies were as vast as his love of Texas. He refurbished old cars, enjoyed camping, and passed on his love of fishing to his children and grandchildren. He also coached little league baseball, gardened and had a large coin collection. Danny was also a true patriot. He had a great love for his country and the Constitution of the United States of America. Danny was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ducks Unlimited, The Lions Club, and the National Riflemen's Association. Danny held dear so many of these interests, but, more than anything, Danny loved his family -- nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by them. Danny was preceded in death by his parents Virgie and Ronald Steele, his granddaughter Devon Sanford, three brothers and one sister. The Family would like to thank Dr. Keller and Dr. Packer, as well all the other doctors and nurses who lovingly cared for Danny during recent years. "When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around. " ~ Willie Nelson
