Linda K. Whipple was born January 27, 1943 in Boise, Idaho to Johnnie Lester Purvis and Helen Irene Kane Purvis. She graduated from Boise High School in 1961 and from Boise Junior College School of Nursing in 1963. She worked at St Luke's Hospital as a floor nurse and in the surgical area. She married Don B. Whipple on September 22, 1967 and had 3 boys and 3 girls. She left the work force from 1968 to 1980 to raise her children. She retired from Mercy Hospital in 2005. She was a faithful, life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved studying the scriptures and other good church books and had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her passion was her family. The latter part of her life was devoted to doing the genealogy and temple work for her father's ancestry line. She was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer in May of 2012 and put up a brave fight for over eight years. The family wishes to thank doctors Scott Pierson and Joseph Brooks as well as the nurses at the St. Alphonsus Cancer Center for the excellent medical care they provide to her during that time.She is survived by her children: Matthew, Michael, Janette, Nancy, David and Suzanne; 20 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild and counting. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always put others first. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 121 N Canyon St in Nampa. Because of Covid restrictions family members and their invited guest will be able to attend the services. A public viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the Church prior to the services. Please remember to practice social distancing. Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery.
