James David Stewart, 77, of Nampa passed away December 9, 2019 at Creekside Rehab Center in Meridian. "Dave" was born November 22, 1942 in Nampa, Idaho to Gerald Dee and Veda Grandelin Turner Stewart, the fourth child and second son. He grew up in Nampa and attended Nampa schools. He played football and made the varsity team in his freshman year. He also ran track. Dave also attended Boise Junior College. As he was growing up he loved boxing, hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends. They had many adventures together while sleeping outside, like sneaking into the Drive-in movies!While attending Jr. High he met Carole Schmidt. Carole did his school work while they were in Jr High! Is it any wonder why he fell in love with her! They were married March 12, 1963 in Boise, Idaho. Together they loved to fish and hunt, gamble, and grow a great garden. They especially loved watching their kids and grandkids in their sports activities.The family lived in Nampa, Marsing and Kuna. He spent time hunting and fishing, coaching baseball and optimist football and helped his kids compete in the Little Britches Rodeos. He also worked with horses--training and showing. He would take fishing trips to the coast and many weekends go camping in Cascade with friends Kay & Hugh Brown and Ed & Donna Harris. He would also go horseback packing to Petite Lake and Grandjean, Idaho.Dave was a salesman. He worked for the Fuller Brush Company and the Lorillard Tobacco Company. He was awarded Top Salesman at the Lorillard Tobacco Company. He was a guide on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. He always belonged to the NRA.If one was to say what his favorite hobbies would be it would most certainly be hunting, hunting with his dogs, fishing, training horses, being with his friends and family, sports, BSU games and his grandchildren's sports! Not necessarily in that order! Dave was a tough and strong guy! He endured being bucked off of his horses, kicked in the face and chest AND he survived a six-bypass heart surgery!Dave was preceded in death by his wife Carole; his father Gerald Stewart; his mother Veda Peterson and step-father Blaine Peterson; his sisters Darlene and Barbra. He is survived by his daughter Shelli (Mike) Spengler and their children Matt & Travis; his son Todd (Kelli) Stewart and their children: Olivia, Ruby and Kalvin; and one great-grandchild Walter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 16, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa followed by burial in the Kuna Cemetery.The family would like to express a special thanks to Heart N Home Hospice for the great care that was given to their father!In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals at shrinershospitalsforchildren.org
