James Gordon Long

James Gordon Long passed away January 19, 2021 in his home in Nampa, Idaho. He was born September 30, 1942 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Jack Gordon Long and Grace Dorothy Schiffman. As a youth, he moved several times, living in the Kimberly/Hansen area. He loved to ride his horse, Blue and shoot his 22. He attended schools in each rural area and graduated from Hansen High School, participating in track, basketball, and football. While attending college at Idaho State University, he was involved in the ROTC program and enlisted in the army receiving his training in the field of communications. He was later stationed in Japan. He had two sons, Jeffrey and Jonathon with his first wife, Joyce Wilson. Later, Jim married Janet Bartlett in March 1976, blending their families to include John and Matthew and together having Lynsey, Pyper, and Jeremiah. He was employed by Mountain Bell, living and working in Pocatello, ID, Casper, WY, and Boise, ID in the marketing departments. With the divesting of the Bell system, he moved his family to Ketchikan, AK working for a commuter airline. Moving back to Boise, ID, he purchased a small printing business, The Printer's Ink. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed being involved in youth programs, coaching Little League baseball, soccer, and Jr Achievement. He loved scouting and was passionate about family history. Jim was preceeded in death by his parents; and oldest son Jeffery; a granddaughter and great-granddaughter. He is survived by wife Janet: and children/(Spouses): (Coreena) of Twin Falls, ID, Jonathan (Leslie) of Shelley, ID, John Bartlett (Michelle) of Vail, AZ, Matthew Bartlett (Gretchen) of Cedar City, UT, Lynsey Mullennax of Bluffdale, UT, Pyper Lowery (Dan) of Nampa, ID, Jeremiah (Laura) of Nampa, ID; 22 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren; siblings: Gary Long of Arimo, ID, Barbara Myers of Nampa, ID, Carol Call of Twin Falls, ID, and Debbie Harr of Buhl, ID, Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 8, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 6111 Birch Lane in Nampa. Military honors and interment will follow at 1:00 PM at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd in Boise.
