Toinette Dickey

Toinette (Toni) Dickey, 80, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2022, surrounded by loved ones in Sun City, AZ. Toni was born to John Knox and Athea Giles Knox in Emmett, Idaho on March 18, 1942 and was raised by Athea and William (Bill) Futrell. She lived a vibrant and varied life, from her days as a young mother in Southern California to working as a dairy farmer in Emmett, from running a day care and plant nursey in South Boise to spending her golden years surrounded by friends and family in Nampa and, recently, relocating to Sun City, AZ to be near her grandsons. She was a published travel author and photographer, a musician and gardener, an entrepreneur and a graduate of business school at 60, a woman who loved escaping to the Idaho mountains, dancing with her husband of 35 years and filling the air with her unmistakable laugh. She loved telling detailed stories about riding her horse Kismet in Emmett, taking karate classes, beating the mayor while driving a stock car in the speedway, dancing the jitterbug and walking to school on her hands when she was a little girl. Her labor of love was a young adult book based on her life as a teenage girl living at a sawmill camp in Lowman, Idaho. She will join in heaven her parents, son David Evans, and sisters Johnne Miller and Anne Risenhoover. She is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Dickey; siblings, Brenda Gallup, Mary Chappell and Ron Futrell;' children: Evelyn Mason, Linda Evans, Tonia Evans and Allison Foulk; step children: Matt Dickey, Steve Dickey, Laurie Frazee, and Tony Browne; and 18 beautiful grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Toni always had a moment to talk and laugh with both loved ones and strangers alike. She truly did light the world. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to help cover funeral expenses.
