Domingo & Ana Maria Chavez

Domingo, 76, and Ana Maria Chavez, 74, our beloved parents and grandparents, went to be with their Heavenly Father on Sept 17, 2015 surrounded by their loved ones at home. Domingo was born September 17, 1939 to the late Nicanor Chavez and Susana M. Chavez. Ana was born May 15, 1941 to the late Pedro Martinez and Maria de Jesus Vega. They met in Texas in 1958, and it was love at first sight. On June 25, 1961 they married and later moved to Idaho to begin their new life which along the way included eight children. Domingo and Ana's last days together appeared to be the perfect ending to a true love story, which lasted 55 years, and ended with them holding hands. Domingo truly enjoyed the outdoors, which included hunting and camping with his family, however his true passion was fishing. He enjoyed traveling to Texas to visit his family and quick trips to Jackpot or Winnemucca with his compadres. Domingo had many friends and treated them all like family, when they got together the spent their time singing and enjoying Olympia beer. He loved all his grandchildren and was such a loving and caring person, he made them all feel as they were his favorite. He had several jobs on farms throughout his life and worked at Rogers for 19 years before he retired. Ana enjoyed music, cooking, gardening, and yard selling. She loved her house plants and had a love for her rose bushes, she also loved her jewelry and collected porcelain dolls. She was a hard worker and a very strong woman. Her children and grandchildren could always count on coming home to homemade tortillas and delicious food. Ana Maria loved holidays and especially getting her family together during Thanksgiving for food, playing Loteria, and watching football. She loved to cook Thanksgiving dinner and always made sure there was enough food for everyone. Ana was a homemaker for most of her life, but would work in the fields during the summer with her family. After she raised her children, she took on a full time job at Roger Brothers and retired after 14 years. Domingo and Ana Maria are survived by their children: Freddie (Gloria) Chavez Sr., Esmeralda Chavez, Domingo (Diane) Chavez Jr., Elizabeth Chavez, Valentine Chavez Sr., Erlinda (Manuel) Mendoza, Rolando Chavez, Cesar Chavez, 30 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest.
