Kenneth Ray Shuck, 77, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 28, 2018, following a brief illness. Kenneth was born November 30, 1940 to Daniel Richard and Hazel Marie Ward Shuck in Nampa, Idaho. Ken moved with his family to Pocatello when he was about 5 years old. He attended Tyhee Elementary School, Alameda Junior High School, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1958. In the 3rd Grade, Ken met the love of his life, Donna Jean Valenty. They were married in 1964. Ken spent 22 years in the U.S. Navy working as a Sonar Technician. After his retirement in 1980, he moved back to Pocatello with his wife and son, Darren, where he worked as a maintenance engineer for Kraft Foods until 1989. Ken went to truck driving school and drove long haul for the next 25 years of his life. He retired from truck driving with 4 million safe driving miles in 2014 following the death of his beloved Donna. Ken was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he dearly loved the 37th Ward family who took him in after the passing of his wife. Ken was a life-long scouter. He was one of very few to earn his Silver Award Explorer as a youth. He completed his scouting career by earning his Woodbadge just prior to his passing. Ken was active in the foster parenting program and worked hard to support numerous children who came through his home. Ken usually had a project of some sort that he was tinkering with. He loved camping, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandkids perform at Starlight Mountain Theatre in Garden Valley, Idaho. He was a loving great-grandpa and he was totally enamored with his 4 great-grandkids. He was excited to have 2 new great-granddaughters born this next month.
