Phillip Franklin October 1, 1940 --March 1, 2021Phillip Gale Franklin, 80, of Homedale, Idaho passed away March 1, 2021 in Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. He was born son of Clarence Gale and Pauline (Fox) Franklin on October 1, 1940 in Knoxville, Ill. He married Marilyn (Slover) on June 8, 1962 in Rock Island, Ill.Survivors include his loving wife of over 58 years and three children: Lori (Karl) Otto of Grand Prairie, Texas; Tami (Ron) Miller of Libby, Montana and Ron (Karen) Franklin of Homedale, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Shirley (Wayne) Atteberry of Salem, Illinois and Sharon Miller of Lake Charles, Louisiana.He was preceded in death by both parents; one sister, Lou Ruddell; and one brother, Steve Franklin.As a small child, Phil suffered an injury to his right eye which resulted in complete loss of vision to his eye. Always one to see the positive in things, Phil was no different when it came to this. He loved to share the story of how in his later years when he was headed into surgery he made sure to place a large "X" in marker over his bad eye so the doctor wouldn't forget and mistakenly operate on the wrong eye.Phil always had a huge love of the outdoors and growing up he wanted to be a farmer. Until one day, he felt God's call into the ministry. Being faithful and willing to serve, Phil answered God's call and began to attend Bible Missionary Institute where he met the love of his life, Marilyn, who he later wed.Phil became an ordained minister and pastored in several states which include Greenville TX, Yakima Wa, Midvale ID, Ontario OR, Wadena MN, and Riverton WY.Phil worked the majority of his life in the construction business. And in his spare time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. During his last years when his outdoor activity was limited, Phil continued to find joy in nature by planting many pots and baskets with flowers and hanging bird feeders for he and his wife Marilyn to enjoy.Phil spent his life serving his family and others. He influenced many and will be forever missed.
