Raymond Boy Ong, 83, returned peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on !!!!!May 24, 2023. He was born in Eugene, Oregon in 1939, to John Louis Ong and Bertha D. Miller Ong. He spent his early years in the Owyhee Mountains of Idaho working with his father, and his teenage years in Nampa, where he met and married the love of his life, Dona J. Remior. They were married in Nampa, Idaho on January 4, 1956 and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 24, 1981. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary January 2016 in Nampa.Ray and Dona have been active members of several different wards and stakes of the Church even though they never moved from their address on 6th Street in Nampa. Ray served 5 years as Second Counselor in the Bishopric of the Nampa 1st Ward. He also served on the Stake High Counsel. He graciously accompanied Dona on her visiting teaching visits to the little old ladies of the ward.Cassie Gates says 'Dad was so proud to be self-taught as a mechanic, carpenter, heavy equipment operator that he built his home, shop and many other things. He was always good at whatever he did and most of all wanted to pass his knowledge on to his kids and grandkids.'Dona and Ray helped many of their neighbors and family. Everyone benefited from knowing them. In 1968, they moved to Michigan to help Dona's sister. Ray took a job with 7M Builders out of Midland Michigan and was with them from the beginning to the end of construction of the Muskegon Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day SaintsRay is survived by a brother, Gene Ong of Emmett; one son, John (Cheri) Ong of Nampa; and three daughters: Carie (Ron) Nash of Melba; Angela (Walter) Okamoto of Mesa, Idaho and Cassandra Gates of Nampa; 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dona; his parents John Louis Ong and Bertha D. Miller Ong; grandchildren: JD Battles, Jesse Ray Marks, and Jared Daniel Okamoto.
