Our dad, Harold Junior Flud was born November 13, 1939, in Stidham, Oklahoma to Chester Arthur Flud and Cora Smith Flud. His family moved to Richmond, California in 1942. He grew up in Richmond and Oakland until just before High school when his family then relocated to Concord, California in 1952, after the untimely death of his father and his brother within one year of each other. He attended Mt. Diablo High School where he met our mother Elaine Campuzano Flud. They dated off and on through high school until he joined the Navy in 1957. He served in the Navy from 1957-1960, traveling to many different parts of the World including Hawaii, Japan and Australia. He loved his time in the service. When he returned home, he found our mother and they married September 1, 1964, in Richmond, California. Together they had 6 children, 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Their love is one for the books. They were married for over 52 years until our mother passed away in 2016.Dad loved his 37 years as a Meat Manager/Butcher and truly enjoyed his job. He was able to retire early at the age of 55 in 1995. He was also quite the handyman, building and completingan apartment above their home by himself including plumbing and electric without any prior experience or education.Dad and mom were baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1971. He absolutely loved the Gospel and truly dedicated his life to his beliefs. He served in many capacities over the years, but his favorite by far was as scoutmaster. He shaped the livesof so many young men, teaching them all about the outdoors. Many of his scouts remained in contact with him throughout their lives, telling of Brother Flud's adventures and memories, and how he shaped their lives for the good. The impact he had on so many was astounding.Dad loved the outdoors: camping, fishing, hiking and hunting. We loved his stories of all of the deer that got away. We loved to see dad in his element where he was happiest. Sitting in the sun, in the mountains, surrounded by his wife and children. The last several years he cared for our mother meeting all her special needs brought on by over 40 years of Rheumatoid Arthritis. To see how he cared for her, how they cared for each other, was truly beautiful to watch. We are so comforted knowing dad is with mom now after 6 1/2 years apart. What a reunion they must be having now. He was a humble and loving man who loved his country, the gospel and his family fiercely.Dad was preceded in death by his father Chester Arthur Flud, mother Cora Isabel Smith; brother Willis James Flud, sister Leota Flud Rooney, and brother Burlon Flud. He is survived by his 6 loving children: Desirae Hudgins of California, Marianne Gatchell of Caldwell, Johnny Flud of Middleton, Caryn Henry of Middleton, Krissy Pimentel of Meridian and Deanna Munoz of Middleton; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.He leaves a legacy of love for all who had the privilege of knowing him. We will miss him greatly and we are so thankful for the time we had with him on this earth. It is comforting to know that he will now be with his loved ones and our mom.May we all remember what a wonderful man he was, in all he did on this earth.Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Friday, March 31 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1332 Cornell St in Middleton with a viewing from 10 to 10:45AM prior to the services.
