HUBER, PAULA ELESE TOWERY passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016. She was born on July 18, 1938 in Nampa, Idaho, to her father, William Clarence Towery, and her mother, Natalie Anna Pascoe Towery. She had a great love for the state of Idaho, where she spent her early years and where she returned with her husband in their retirement years. Paula graduated in 1957 from Nampa High School where she was an officer in Jobs Daughters and then Honored Queen; on drill team, swim team, president of Spiz pep club, Y-Teens, FHA and Girls Athletic Association (GAA), and active for ten years in 4-H. Paula attended the University of Idaho where she played on the women's field hockey team and participated in intramural softball as a pitcher, which was her passion throughout her life. Her pursuit of a degree in home economics was interrupted when she met and married Don Morgan Huber, of Meridian, on February 19, 1959, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Instead of a degree in home economics from the University of Idaho, she earned the most revered degree of Mother and Professional Homemaker as she and Don became parents to 11 children. They began their married life with the army in El Paso, Texas, then spent four years at Michigan State in Lansing, Michigan where their first two children were born. Don's career moved them to the University of Idaho in Moscow, where they had four more children. In 1971, when Don became a professor at Purdue University, they moved their family to West Point, Indiana, where they had five more children and lived for 36 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Melba where they have resided for the last nine years. Paula was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in the church. She had a deep love of the Gospel and had a profound understanding of it. Paula was well-known for her love of people, her undying loyalty and passion for sports (especially those Purdue Boilermakers) and her country, her scrumptious cinnamon tea rings and baked goods, and her abiding faith. Above all, she was devoted to her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light and treasure of her life; she loved them so much. Their memories of her are precious to them, and they will miss her presence here dearly. Paula was a dedicated daughter of God and the pure love of Christ was in her. She honored her covenants to the very end of her life and is an example of faithfully enduring to the end with joy in life and trust in the Lord. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Don; children: Brenda (Greg) Nielsen, Joyce (Rick) Fahnestock, Aaron (Karen) Huber, Louise (Tom) Payne, Lynette (Michael) Roy, Sharon Huber, Sarah (Scott) Bethel, Elese (Dan) Tolson, Natalie (Andy) Harl, Kevin (Tami) Huber, and Derek (Brooke) Huber; 43 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, with three on the way; and sister, Darlene Towery Cornilles (Jerry). Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the Melba Second Ward LDS Chapel, 112 Randolph Dr. in Melba.
