June Louise Peterson Vaughn 1936-2022. June Louise Peterson was born April 8, 1936, and died July 11, 2022, due to the effects of advanced age. She was the third of eight children born to Winnie Lavaun Wright and Glen Wood Peterson. June was born in the family's home on Howard St. in then Woods Cross, now Main St. in North Salt Lake, Utah. She grew up as the only daughter in her family until a sister was born when she was 15, she cared for her younger siblings, cooked for the family, and worked on her father's dairy farm after the family moved to Nyssa, Oregon in 1946. She loved reading and school, excelling in Speech and Drama. She attended Brigham Young University where she studied communications and hosted a radio program on KBYU. She married Larry Kent Vaughn in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 24, 1956. Two sons came and then a move to the Seattle area where June served in LDS Church callings as Young Women's and Relief Society President. June loved to sing, dance, and participate in plays and other Church activities. It was often a whirlwind of activities and adventures with her children and many friends. In 1966 they adopted the little girl they had been longing for. June enjoyed traveling with Larry to visit grandchildren and especially to Hawaii or anywhere with a beach. In 2006 she suffered a debilitating stroke, but she endured as long as she could. June is survived by three children: Grant (Linda) Centerville, UT, Keith (Lisa) Preston, ID, and Sabra (Brent) Cascade, ID; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Delbert (Olive), Dale (Fran), John (Karen); and two sisters, Kathy (Burdett) Pratt and DeeAnn (Gary) Turner. She was preceded in death by her grandson Tyler Collins; and two brothers, Farrell and Dean. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint located at 121 N Canyon St in Nampa, ID, with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 AM prior to the services.
