Helen L. Grigg Pooley Henderson, 80, passed away peacefully Monday, July 25, 2016, at her daughter's home in Boise. Helen was born April 5, 1936 to James Sterling and Lucille Housman Grigg in Kuna, Idaho. She grew up in Kuna and graduated from Vale High School. She married Donald A. Pooley on September 3, 1954 in Nampa, Idaho, and together they had six children. They lived in Montana and Wyoming while he worked for the Davy Tree Company. In 1960 they moved back to Nampa where Don operated several service stations and Helen cared for the children. Don passed away in 1986. She later married Bill D. Henderson also from Nampa. Her kind and quiet heart complemented Bill's humorous demeanor and they stayed by each other's side, caring for their children, step-children and grandchildren, until Bill's passing in 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Pooley and husband Bill D. Henderson; her son Nathan Pooley; two brothers Larry Grigg and Amory Grigg. Helen is survived by five of her children: Colette (Jim) Nonenmacher, Gale (DeAnna) Pooley, Cathy (Tex) Mann, Duane Pooley, and Trent Pooley; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters: Lois Concidine, Charlotte Gilbert, Jill Ripley, and Phyllis Bailey; and brothers: Loyd Grigg, Aaron Grigg, Ammon Grigg, and Sterling Grigg. Helen was a unique soul, a radiant beauty who shined her light on those around her, illuminating lives with her poetry, art and music. It was almost as if Helen was apart from today's world, living in simpler times, enjoying the beauty of the past and the history that came along with it. A birdsong, a scripture, an antique, these were among her favorite things. Helen enjoyed playing piano as her children sang beside her. She loved having her hands on the earth, growing fresh herbs, her home smelling of lavender and thyme. Her home was filled with treasures, and she had a way of restoring what was once old, making it new again, especially discarded dolls. She enjoyed teaching, attending church, and being around family and friends; those she loved most. She created a legacy of artwork and poetry and served in the Nampa Art Guild. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout her life including a mission to the Family History Center in Salt Lake City. She loved birds and flowers and herbs. She lived the teachings of charity and forgiveness as taught by Jesus Christ. Many received comfort and wisdom in her peaceful home and from loving counsel.
