Nancy Rose Archer, 85, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2021, at the home of her daughter Belinda Purdy. She was born on March 1, 1936, in Buena Park, California, to Millard Fillmore "Ted" Cochell and Ruth Isabelle Cochell. She was brought home from the hospital without a name. Her mother's younger sister, Eva, stated that, "She looks like a little Nancy to me." Her mother said she looked like a beautiful rose. Hence, she was named Nancy Rose. True to her name Nancy blossomed all her life as a beautiful flower. Nancy's four daughters affectionately called her "Rosebudd." As a child Nancy demonstrated gifts for music, art, and learning. Simply by hearing a song she learned to play both the harmonica and the concertina. Nancy also showed an exceptional ability for art. She became an artist and won various awards for her works. Throughout her life Nancy added an artistic "flair" to all she did. At an early age she became a seamstress. Her artistic talents influenced every aspect of her sewing creations, from her design decisions to her choice of fabrics and her selection of styles. Nancy was so highly gifted as an artistic seamstress that she was able to look at the person she was creating a garment for and conceptualize the design and size and sew the garment without measurements or patterns. Nancy's intellect was extraordinary. She was well spoken and a veracious reader. She was also genuinely interested in the people she met. Her curiosity about others was insatiable. Her interest in others was merely an inward desire to feel after the hearts of others and get to know them better. Nancy truly loved people. In 1954 she met and married Jerry Eugene Archer in Boise, Idaho. Jerry and Nancy became parents to ten children. Nancy loved children, all children. As a mother Nancy was highly organized and was constantly on the run. In addition to tending children and performing household duties, she ironed and sewed for others to supplement the family income. In her spare time, Nancy read books, played her musical instruments and served in various Church callings. Nancy was very resourceful and self-sufficient. As a mother, with little means and no car, she walked to the grocery store and any other place she needed to visit. Distance was no problem. She loved to walk. Nancy's walks allowed her to observe and meet people and introduce herself to those she met. Her walks also provided her the opportunity to observe the trees and experience the outdoors. As a child Nancy had memorized Joyce Kilmer's poem "Trees." Her favorite tree was the Ginkgo tree. As a tribute to her mom, her daughter Belinda planted a ginkgo tree 20 years ago at her home on Willow St. in Caldwell, Idaho. The tree is still there to this day to remind visitors of Nancy's general love of trees. Of all the collective memories of their mother, Nancy's children most often recall the costumes she created for Halloween. They were the envy of all the neighborhood kids. Over the past few years her son Tim has held Halloween Parties where there is always a costume contest in honor of his dear mom Nancy. Nancy is survived by her ten children: Audrey Nunn; Anthony Archer; Dolly Greninger; Barbara Larson; Harvey Archer; Ron Archer; Timothy Archer; Belinda Purdy; Harold Archer; Henry Archer ; twenty five Grandchildren; twenty eight Great Grandchildren and ; two Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Eugene Archer, her parents Millard Fillmore "Ted" Cochell and Ruth Isabelle Cochell, her sister Barbara Ruth Fuson, and brothers Millard Fillmore "Murphy" Cochell and Ammon Lamarr "Joe" Cochell.
