Alta Jean (Tiegs) Winslow

Alta Jean Winslow, 80, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on September 18th at her home in Nampa with her family by her side. Alta was born January 10, 1936, in Great Falls, Montana to Frank L. and Evalyn C. Malone, joining an older sister. Her father passed away of a sudden illness when Alta was only two years old. Evalyn and her two daughters moved from the family ranch to Helena where she attended school. For a short time in her childhood, Alta lived with her Grandmother, of which she spoke fondly. Her senior year of high school her family moved to Idaho and she attended Nampa High School. While there, she met her husband, Dale H. Tiegs. They married after graduation in 1954 and farmed for many years in the Dry Lake area south of Nampa. Together they had six children. In 1973, their marriage ended. Alta married Thurman Willis and moved to Eureka, Nevada. This marriage produced a daughter. They later divorced and she met and married Jim Dugan, residing in Utah, Nevada and Idaho. Alta eventually met the love of her life, Neil W. Winslow, at the Nampa Senior Center where they also later married, exchanging vows before family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Alta had many hobbies and interests, including owning several businesses. She had a great love for antiques and was always surrounded by her "pretties". She excelled at quilting, and enjoyed making beautiful creations for her family. She also enjoyed reading and gardening. She was determined and fearless; not even a blizzard could stop her if she had made up her mind to go somewhere. Her laughter was infectious and she is fondly remembered for her bantering and hilarious antics. Alta was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and two grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband Neil Winslow; her seven children: Cheryl Callaway, Gregg Tiegs, Frank Tiegs, Allison Tiegs, Lori Fox, Stacey Devereaux, and Rachael Ikola, as well as Neil's children: Rodney Murray, Debbie Tolman, Randy Winslow, Jimmy Winslow, Cindy Maggard; and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all the family and loving caregivers for their excellent care of Alta, making her remaining time comfortable and happy. We would also like to extend a special thank you to St. Luke's Hospice for their tender loving care during her last months of life.
