Gordon Albert DougalDied October 22, 2021In the early morning hours of October 22nd Gordon's battle with cancer ended and left him at peace.Born in 1935 to Harold Andrew Dougal and Isabell Jackson Black in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Gordon was the fourth of six children. He attended Boise High School, and was part of the graduating class of 1952. Gordon married his high school sweetheart, Robin Patricia Roos, in June of 1953. He and Robin were blessed with seven children, six sons and a daughter. Gordon was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gordon was a member of the 17th U.S. Army Special Forces, which was a reserve group in Boise, Idaho. When the group was transferred, he joined the Idaho National Guard 116th Armored Cavalry and served as a cook. Gordon enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. Gordon worked in computer programming until 1973 when he graduated from Boise State Junior College with a major in education. After graduation, he became a teacher at Boise Independent School District. Two of his great loves were teaching and the outdoors. He joined his two talents and began teaching gun safety for the State of Idaho. He specifically enjoyed instructing kids around the age of 12 because they listened well and learned.Gordon instilled a sense of family in his children. He worked tirelessly on GenealogyGordon was adventurous and loved to travel. Traveling to Paris, France and seeing the early Mormon Pioneer sites in the United States were some of his favorites. In his retirement years Gordon joined the Homedale Gun Club, a group of friendly shooting enthusiasts who work together to promote shooting sports. Gordon served as Treasurer of the gun club and spent many years helping to grow and improve the club Gordon is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Robin, children: Terry (Debbie), Mark (Teresa), Dann (Terry), Nick (Barbara), Theron (Billie), Nanette, and Alex (Cheryl), as well as 26 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and many loving family and friends. Services will be held at 10am Saturday, October 30, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3015 S. Kimball, Caldwell, Idaho. Friends and Family may call one hour prior, beginning at 9am. He will be laid to rest at Marsing-Homedale Cemetery, 4410 Cemetery Road, Marsing, Idaho.
