Richard "Dick" LeRoy Taylor-"Fantastically Wonderful Husband, Father & Grandpa" Services will be held for Richard LeRoy Taylor, 80, who died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at home in Nampa. A viewing will be held at Zeyer Funeral Chapel located at 83 N. Midland Blvd, in Nampa, Tuesday, June 21, 6:00-9:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery Wednesday, June 22, 9:40 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 18463 Northside Blvd in Nampa. Dick was born October 9, 1935 in Gooding, Idaho to Ralph Elwin and Alice May (Christie) Taylor. He attended public schools in Boise. On July 23, 1955 he married Dana Kathleen Mapes with whom he had five children. They later divorced. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1961 during which time he received an occupational medal as a Sharp-shooter while stationed in Germany. Most of his life he was a roofer by trade known as "the leaky specialist". When not on a roof Dick could be found on either a lake or river bank, fishing pole in hand, doing what he loved best. In 1988 he married Theresa Joy Meissner who passed away in 1996. The following year, he met and married Mary Katherine Chesney. Dick is survived by his wife Mary of Nampa; brother Wayne and wife Rhonda Taylor of Kuna; a daughter Dana Taylor of Kingman, AZ; son Bill and wife Cindy Taylor of Caldwell; son Jon and wife Terri Taylor of Nampa; and Richard A. Taylor. Stepchildren: Michelle and husband Dyrck Flint of Meridian; Noel and husband Mark Smith of Lyndon, KS; Keith and wife Shanta Biggs of Caldwell; 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dick is preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna Marie Taylor; his parents Ralph and Alice; brothers Dale and David Taylor; and sisters Eileen Van Meter, Carol Mertins, and Patricia Hardy. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Harrison's Hope (Hospice) or the Idaho Veteran's Hospital.
