Betty Lou Brown

Betty Lou Brown, 81, of Melba passed away on January 18, 2017 of natural causes, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Rupert, ID to Willis and Nona (Boden) Webb on April 23, 1935. As a young girl, she lived in Idaho, Oregon, and California. Following the death of her parents, she was raised by her grandmother, Clara Webb, in Melba, ID. Betty married Wayne A. Brown on March 21, 1953, who preceded her in death. Together they raised three beautiful children and enjoyed traveling throughout the western United States, camping, and fishing. Betty retired from the U.S. Postal Service where she took great pride in her work. As a homemaker, she was best known for her lemon meringue pies and her beautiful embroidery. Gardening, canning, cooking, and baking brought her much joy as her greatest pleasure was preparing delicious meals for her loved ones, which were always concocted with abundant love. Betty is survived by her brother Verl Webb (June) of Ocean Park, WA; three children: Mary Ryan of Nampa, Gary Brown of Nampa, and Bill Brown of Melba; five grandchildren: Tyler Rhein of Nampa, Michael Rhein of Nampa, Natalie Brown of Tucson, AZ, Kathryn Brown of Nampa, and Sarah Ekard (T.J.) of Nampa; two great-grandchildren: Cora Lynn Ekard and Libby Lou Ekard of Nampa; and five special cousins. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Gigi (great-grandmother), sister, aunt, and friend. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 20 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa, (467-7300) with a viewing from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Melba Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Betty's name to the Melba Valley Senior Center, where she enjoyed many gatherings with extended family and friends.
