Gary Obenauer

Gary Obenauer passed peacefully on October 28, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born September 26, 1934, to Albert and Agnes Juneau Obenauer. With his first wife, he had two children, Sue and Wes. On May 23, 1992, he married his sweetie Carol Reisner in the Boise Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The two created a beautiful, blended family with the addition of Carol's four children: Kevin, Shane, Tanya, and Julie. In his professional life, Gary was a hospital and nursing home administrator. With his sweetheart, they later created and ran Shelter Bay Assisted Living. Gary was a temple worker in the Boise Idaho Temple and the Meridian Idaho Temple. He and Carol also served a Church mission in the Australia Perth Mission. Gary loved crossword puzzles, watching old westerns, jazz music, visiting the ocean as often as possible, camping and the outdoors. He loved to read and could be found reading a good book while his sweetie Carol fished. He loved anything that meant spending time with Carol, the children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy. Gary also served in the U.S. Marine Corps as well as a Navigator in the U.S. Air Force. Gary is survived by his wife Carol and his children: Sue (Kevin) Rourke, Wes (Pamela) Obenauer, Kevin Reisner, Shane (Janeen) Reisner, Tanya (Keith) Jensen, and Julie (Ben) Reisner. Thank you to all who have helped during this difficult time and a special thanks for the loving and efficient care given to Gary from Doctor's Hospice in his final hours as well as the members of the Caldwell 8th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
