Veris Kay was born in Safford, Graham County, Arizona on a beautiful spring day to Martha Wanda Packer Dankworth and Arnold Andrew Dankworth. She had a sister that was four years older, Fay Ola Dankworth Handley. Veris was a lifelong nurturer of animals and lover of all nature had to offer. While growing up on a farm she helped her father tend and care for the animals. She never minded getting her hands dirty and enjoyed working side by side laboring with her father in their fields, logging, tinkering on machinery and equipment. She carried that work ethic with her throughout life. She also cherished the quiet moments with her sweet mother. In 1953 she married James Grady Webb (deceased in 2011) from which four children were born: Brenda Kay Webb Senske (deceased in 2002), Barbara Fay Webb Heffelfinger, Peggy Sue Webb McGrady (deceased in 2019) and Daniel (Boone) G. Webb. In 1976 she married Harold (Hap) Albert Moore (deceased in 2006). They lived in Portland, Oregon until 1978. They moved to Long Beach, Washington where they owned and operated Moore's Peninsula Dairy until they retired and became snowbirds in 1994. Veris and Hap purchased a motor home and thoroughly enjoyed traveling and exploring together. They were able to visit and vacation to many wonderful places in the US and abroad. They loved to go see and adventure with family and friends.Grandma Veris had a deep love for family research and genealogy which she passed on to many of her offspring. She loved to travel to parks, monuments and special religious locations to learn and absorb as much of the history that she could. She lovingly pieced together many life stories including those of her mother and father. Recently she completed three of her grandmother's life stories. Her hobbies included photography, bird watching, painting, sewing, knitting and crocheting blankets, gardening, and spending time with her animals. Many of the fond memories that we as her grandchildren cherish are those of visiting her in Long Beach, her loyal dogs: Buff, Candy, Cassie. The many dairy cats that were around, we loved all the funny nicknames she would give them. Her two rescue horses, a retired Shetland pony, George and a beautiful Morgan, Babe. She taught us to love to be outside, go adventuring and to be observers and caregivers of nature. Her favorite color was lavender and her favorite flower a Yellow Mountain Columbine.Veris was a caring mother, a beloved mother-in-law and absolutely adored by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. She was energetic, always on the move, one had to walk fast to keep up with her. She was feisty and would set you straight in a matter-of-fact kind of way but always made sure we all knew we were loved no matter what. When I think of our Grandma, I will remember that she always smelled like baby powder, from the same Avon face cream she used her whole life. I'll remember the bright lipsticks she liked to wear and how she loved for us to put her hair in rollers on Saturday so it would be nice for Sunday church. I remember the cute little waterproof bonnets she would wear out and about so her hair didn't get wet. I'll remember her tenacious work ethic and how she worked alongside Grandpa Hap so hard at the dairy. I'll remember how she carved out special time to spend with each person she loved and made them feel like her favorite. I'll especially miss her famous greeting, "Hi darlin'" and hand-written heartfelt cards. As we look back on her long life, we remember that she has endured much, lost much and grieved much. She outlived three loves, a sister, a dear best friend, two children, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild and many close to her heart. More recently she would tell us that she was ready to go and I believe that she was at peace with her life and the many paths it took her on. While we all will miss her dearly, I know we all are so deeply grateful for the impact she had on our lives. Our beloved Veris is survived by two of her children, Barbara and her husband Craig Heffelfinger, and Daniel "Boone" Webb and his spouse Michelle. Her children gave her 12 grandchildren and she was blessed with a bounty of great-grandchildren. The legacy of her dedication to family, storytelling and her faith lives on through each of us who are blessed with her eternal love. Grandma passed away while sleeping peacefully Saturday evening in the home of Barbara and Craig where she had loved for the past few years. She was surrounded by peace, love and light.
