Alice Dawna Herndon, 81, of Nampa passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014. She was born April 3, 1933 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Don C. and Alice Velma Ogden Smith. She was a graduate of Pocatello High School, in 1951 and married Glen Holladay in that same year. They had six children: Dale Glen, Dawnetta Janene, Don Eugene, Jolyn, Douglas Lee and Jill Ann (Kindall). She later married Jesse L. Herndon (1981) and with that marriage came three step-children: Rob, Steve and Terri (Felder). Alice was a native of Idaho but also lived in Arizona, Georgia and Washington. She started her career at a bank as a teller and worked her way up and became the bank Vice President. She also worked at the post office where she started as a carrier and worked her way up to be the Post Master. Alice enjoyed collecting antiques, temple work, genealogy, traveling, sewing, being an avid BSU fan, but mostly raising her children. She loved journalism. She served as editor of her high school newspaper and received offers of scholarships for her great work but she chose to get married and raise a family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and volunteered several years at the Boise LDS Temple. She was also a member of the Retired Post Masters Organization. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Grace, Betty, Marilee, Etta and her brother Dale. She is survived by her husband Jesse; her nine children; 41 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5 at the Nampa 10th Ward LDS Chapel, 927 Ruth Lane in Nampa with a viewing to be held at the church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
